I recently picked up my 2020 g63 and absolutely love it so far. The only negative is that I was told that the 295/40R22 Pirelli Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico tires that come standard do not provide much grip in heavy snow or icy conditions even though they are all season tires. I live in Colorado and drive to the mountains almost every weekend to ski so a solid winter tire is necessary for me. I am currently looking at the setup on the Brabus Adventure build which has Brabus monoblock R 20" wheels and 285/55R20 KO2 tires. I know that Brabus puts a 50mm lift on the Adventure so i'm concerned that this tire setup will have rubbing issues on a standard G. Does anyone know if there will be issues with this size wheel/tire? or does anyone recommend a particular winter setup? All help is much appreciated.
They're listed online as "street/sport truck all-season". There's a little bit more tread than typical summer tires, but they're still performance tires so they're not suited for anything more than light snow. The only other tires I can find for 22s are summer tires which is why I need to get a new set of wheels.
Have you had chance to try them in the "snow" here at the moment? Thoughts?
I drove into work this morning around 6:30a, but even by then I didn't encounter much snow on the roads. At most there was 1/2 inch, but the tires seemed fine.
I don't think they will be that great in deeper snow since they don't have the 'snowflake on a mountain' icon but for the Seattle area they should be ok.
Has anyone even tried the 22” OEM Pirelli all season tires in the snowy conditions? I live in the Bay Area and definitely not planning on changing tires for few days a year trip to the Sierra/ Nevada area. My all season conti tires on 16’ Range Rover ATB did OK in extreme snowy conditions in the Yellowstone park with uncleared roads...yes I drove to yellow stone park from Bay Area during late dec of 2016...

I have not had them in any significant snow but they did not stop well when I was going down my hill which had some ice on it (on top of dirt). It had ZERO problem going up it even when i tried to make it difficult. The combo of ice and truck weight and stopping is not favorable with the 22" but if you play it safe i'd expect you will be fine most of the time.
I thought the 22s were summers? Does anyone know what tires are on the G63 Trail Package 20s?
Did you ever get the answer to this, I’m seeking out some winter / wet weather tires for the U.K. AMA was keen to go with the OEM approved Trail Package tire!

Dec 17 2020:
Encountered our first significant accumulating snow storm in Vermont. This was more than 30" on top of some existing icepack. Couldn't just drive forward or back as snow was too heavy so i shoveled a ring around her, gained speed, and once I was going it was unstoppable (unless I wanted it to stop). The hills I life up are the steepest in Vermont. No one dares come up unless you have 4x4 with snowtires. The G handles it disappointingly easy! :-)
I am using Nokian Hakka R3s on 20s. Changed to Nokian from blizzaks for no other reason than to try them. Seems just as good if not better (quieter on roads)

The Pirelli Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico that comes stock on the 22" wheel is NOT all season. They're labeled as all seasons online, but they don't have any snowflake or M+S ratings. I've only driven a couple blocks in about 1" of snow with them and they are terrible. They have enough traction to pull through it but cannot stop.

30" + Waist deep - swam to the trucks Out
Looks like fun! I can't wait to get my G out in the snow once my winter wheels and tires arrive. How effective is the electronic heated front windshield on the new gen G?

Hey @vailG63 The windsheild works really well. I did to move more than what is in the photo and you could see the thaw from the windshield / defrost happen quickly. Dont get me wrong, it is not magic but it does as much as perhaps any other well made vehicle. Everything about the G feels like it considered heavy snowfall. I'd say you will have no better vehicle (with the right tires) out west. Cheers,
Finally got my winter setup installed. 20" trail package wheels with 275/55R20 BFG K02s. Love how much more aggressive it makes the car look. Just waiting for a heavy snowfall to get it out on some backroads in the mountains.

Have you got any pics of your motor with your ATR wheels on?

Greta - I have a G63 2020 in Vermont and YES I absolutely needed winter wheels for the ice storms and heavier snow. I live up a VERY steep and windy hill and there is zero chanve I could get up or down safely without dedicated winter wheels (I have Nokian hakkapeliittas and they rock). Blizzaks do the trick to as I have posted on old G550 and GLE63 trucks.
I was able to drive around in 18" of fresh snow on my 32" BFG KO2's in my G55. It performed much better than I thought it would but got stuck on my driveway when the entire underside was packed with snow (above the running boards).
But I would agree with the others. With just powder, the KO2's are great, but in real world conditions (ice and thick slush), you'll need a dedicated winter tire like Blizzaks or Nokian's.
