Range Rover or new G?
Got an e-mail from dealer and my 2020 G63 is going into production. I ordered it over a year ago but having second thoughts on going through with the purchase. I have a 2019 Range Rover SVAutobiography and really love it. I ordered the G63 as a 'just in case' since I usually get tired of my cars really quickly but the Range is one car I still like, perhaps favorite overall vehicle and I have driven pretty much everything. Anyone make the switch, or have both and can compare? Wondering if there is a point since I am very happy with the Range, also weighing if I should just keep it and add the G as an addition. Not sure if it makes sense since from what I hear, new G63 makes a good luxury vehicle unlike previous generation.
I have only driven the new 2019 G550 very briefly so was hard to form an impression and my only experience owning a G-Wagen is a G55 I had way back in 2003 (and disliked).

If you decide you don’t want it I would pay you for taking over the order if possible.
I had a G550 2019 and already sold it for two reasons, A. At the time it was my daily driver, B. I wish I ordered a G63
Range Rovers are probably better every day cars but the g63 is awesome specialty vehicle. There were some quirks I wasn’t happy with (windshield concerns, speaker vibrations , interior air pressure, getting kids in and out) but now I also have a Cadillac xt6 to drive so I wouldn’t mind on the weekends.

Depends on what your intentions are with the vehicle. If it’s your only car, leasing a Range might be more practical. I say lease because of the dramatic depreciation and worrisome reliability. In comparison, the resale on the G is extremely strong and I would consider it better made. As a second or third vehicle, the G63 is one of the best and why I went that route. Then again, you are looking at a significant price difference. My G63 is a 50% daily as I only use it around town and short drives.

Keep both - different vehicles and nice in their own way. Range Rover might be in the workshop most of the time anyways (personal experience from 2x new RR ATBs)

I think if you are happy with your Range, give it another year, amazing car. I think it all comes down to your commute and lifestyle. I owned a 17 Range Rover 5.0 for a year, and it was hands down the best vehicle I have owned to date. Hauled my family of 5 with ease, and made long trips somewhat enjoyable. It was super quiet on the highway, even with 22" terra grappler. Wind noise was minimal, driving,"command," position was amazing, door arm rest was flat, folding armrest for right arm, side doors for sun glasses. Mine never visited the shop in the 15000 miles I owned it, and had close to 30k when I sold it. Now, onto my current 2020 G550, it is just different. Driving position is very good, close to on par with Range. Door arm rest is sloped slightly, so arm slides off, which is somewhat a pain. I feel higher up in the G. Love the sound of the OEM exhaust. It just feels like a tank to me for some reason, almost like your invincible driving it. Longest trip I have had was a 5hr round trip. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't too bad. It definitely has more driver fatigue, but once I got my seat adjusted and put on the heated stone massage, all was good. My thoughts right now are to keep it, as it just feels so much more special than the Range Rover. Now, if I can't talk my wife into giving up her LR4 over the next year for a Range, I may slide back into one by then, we'll see. As Festertester said, both if you can.

2019 G550 Selenite/macchiato
I know with vehicles in this price range, money isn't usually a big factor. But for me, I bought a Range Rover back in 2007 brand new. Loved the ride, even though it spent more time in the shop than on the road. But man it depreciated a TON!! Had a 2016 G550 and was shocked at how well it kept it's value. Yes, these G's have their quirks but so far my 2019 has had zero issues. I love the ride. Not quite as soft and plush as the RR, but turn on the massage seats (yes I love them even though they're not like getting a deep tissue massage), relax and enjoy the view. My favorite part of the G is the commanding view and how high up it really feels like you're sitting. I have about a 10 minute commute to work (2 mile highway, the rest rural back roads) and I enjoy that 10 minute trip in the G. And I know that if I keep this thing 5 years, it's going to have held it's value a lot more than any RR. Also, liked the design of the 2006-9 RR better than the current ones. Just my 2 cents.

I have both those vehicles in the line up for daily drivers. Two different vehicles. The SV doesn't everything so smooth, audio is way way better. I like the interface of the G63 way better, the range infotainment system is so slow in comparison. The SV hauls butt with out any drama, where the G63 does ti with emotion and sound. The SV I watch where I park it due to the Range body is easily dinged, and how the panels are would drive me insane if there was a door ding. The G63 has the running boards so I never worry. Again 2 way different vehicles. I say if your able to, keep both.

Rented a G63 for a day via Turo and decided I'll keep both. I absolutely loved the G but I did not feel that it better than the Range Rover (or worse). Observations that they're just different are correct.
Range Rover feels more refined and luxurious. The audio system is far better, little things like materials of the sun visors, switches throughout the vehicle and especially a more luxurious setup in the rear. On the other hand, the G felt more raw, unique, sounds better and I too found comand system easier to deal with than the touchscreens in the Range.
Wish Mercedes offered more special paint options like Land Rover...would have loved to order it in dark matte blue to match the Range Rover.

Sounds about right. A fully loaded G63 is competitive with a Range Rover Sport SVR for luxury or a mid-tier Range Rover, but any Autobiography trim is one step above. Autobiography is equal to something like a designo GLS in terms of luxury.

i am actually leaving range rover for the new g wagon. been driving RR’s as a winter car for the past several years and owned multiple ones. I am kind of bored of them, they aren't really an “event” to drive and there are too many on the road. In my view, the RR has lost a lot of its muster so i am really looking forward to adding the G to my stable! All my RRs have been leased as i cant stomach the depreciation on them but the G will be bought and likely held longer than normal for me.... hence why i am have a very big internal debate on 63 or 550....

Visiting a friend here in Tampa who drives a 2014 G. She told me she drove Range Rovers since they were first imported, but increasingly felt they were commoditized, no longer felt unique. The final straw was the latest generation of Ford Explorers which the casual observer can be forgiven for mistaking for a Rover. So she switched to the G wagon and loves it. (She did say there are three on her street, so exclusivity is relative, LOL)

It is not very hard to find a good insurance company. The main problem is that almost all of them are expensive. When I bought m Honda Civic, I was searching a lot for an insurance company. Luckily I found a site where I could find all the companies that could insure my car in the state I live. I compared the prices and I chose the most rational one. I have a new car, and it was a little bit difficult to insure it, but I don't even want to imagine how expensive and difficult is to insure old cars. I am going to buy one, and I am reading a lot of information about how to insure it, from that site.

After getting into the Range Rover SVR, I am done with the brand once the lease is up the end of this year - and it was my first JLR vehicle.
Within the 1st 1,500 miles one of the control arms snapped and the rear wheel fell off while I was driving down the road. Had to have it towed and it took 3 weeks to replace.
I have had problems with bluetooth connectivity and infotainment since day 1 regardless of upgrades/system flashes
Constant brake squeal even after fresh rotors and pads were put on the vehicle (JLR techs say this is normal)
Other than these items the vehicle has been pretty reliable, I only put about 8,000 miles a year on it. However the infotainment issue is enough for me to write the brand off. They really need to address these issues. When you put the car into reverse and your camera doesn't come on, or only comes on 50% of the time - thats a problem, same with bluetooth. headaches you shouldn't have to deal with for vehicles in this price range.
From a performance perspective, obviously both the G and the SVR have significant body roll, however I can confidently say I feel much more safe and planted at excessive speeds in the G than I do in the SVR just in a straight line.

Haha the new Explorers and ST are extremely good looking with great interiors (at night anyway) and that motor can be chipped to insane reliable outputs....to bad about the logo and poor dealer service experience along side rednecks and cargo van drivers with fresh popcorn.
Levantes are rock solid with fabulous engine note.
IMO king is Cayanne Turbo unless really want to make a statement with new RR that just looks like a comedy show prop from grade 6 shop class haha

I was driving home from the MB dealer earlier this week after having the child safety lock stickers installed. In front of me on the highway was a flatbed tow truck whose passenger was a late model RR -- 'nough said.
