2002 G-WAGEN 4.0 G400 CDI 5D
Hello everyone - I’ve found the above spec G wagon for sale but having no experience with these I wanted to see if any of you could give me any specific things I should be weary of and need to check before making an offer. Any views (positive or negative) about this model and year gratefully received. I plan to use it as a family car where I live in the mountains. Also - any tips on G wagons in general very welcomed. Thank you

here in Europe are the CDI (diesel ) engines very popular.
The 400CDi was the first (and last?) V8 diesel engine for the G Class.
It is a very strong engine, was very comfortable and had a good MPG.
But today are this cars almost 20 years old...
They have a lot of engine problems, too much torque for the 5 speed transmission, nt enough space so hard to repair this engines.
There are a lot of german forums about the problems of these engines...
The newer 320CDi / 350 models are much better, if you are searching for modern a diesel.
