Changed Order to ‘20 from ‘21 Request
Hey Guys, two weeks ago I changed my ‘21 G550 “request” to a 2020 Order which sales guy thinks is a September delivery... I didnt want to wait for ‘21 and was worried that the Matt Black paint would be discontinued as its a limited option color.
Ironically, I havent been able to get a PO because MB is closed... anyone experiencing this?
Also ironically, given delays because of Virus, i wonder if my order would turn into a 2021 anyway 🤷♂️
Build came to about $167,000k usd. A G63 would have got me close to 200k and i didnt think the jump is worth it. ill just do a stage 1 tune and boom, now they are equal... also have several supercars so i can get my rush there. Cant wait... my RR is getting very long in the tooth 😀

Only time will tell. I doubt the plant will re-open when planned so the longer it stays closed the more orders will be pushed to the right; however, I cannot see it taking more than a month to get back to work. Nevertheless, you have a late build so yours may roll into the 2021 model year. My build is planned for May 30th so I am pretty confident I will still get a 2020. I have not seen anything yet on the 2021 changes, if any at all, but when the Order Guide is released in May/June you will know for sure.

for those with the G550, are you happy with the acceleration...? i’ve been searching but havent seen any “visual” or video comparisons with actual acceleration and sound between the two models side by side...

I took an extended test drive of a G550 and was quite surprised at how such a heavy box can accelerate. 0-60 times are around 5.6 seconds, which is very respectable regardless of the vehicle.

also, oddly with all the cars i own/owned, this is my first Benz. Does MB have an inhouse tuner that can be used to maybe do a small tune like a stage 1 (chip or computer tweak) that wont void warranty? Like porsche and BMW for instance?

very helpful Bob. would love to have seen a sound by sound and acceleration comparison between the two models. cant find anything on internet.

Techart or Ruf. Maybe my mistake but thought they were in house tuners. I used techart for one of my p cars for stage 1 and it kept my warranty intact as (i think) they are an approved tuner.
