cQuartz coating on matte black 2020 G63
Are you going to put protective film on first? I've talked to a couple of different installers with good reputations, and they both seem to like Xpel Stealth for Black Magno paint. I'm only planning on applying a protective film to the high wear and tear areas, so the film must have the same appearance as the unprotected matt paint. Then, I want to have a ceramic coating applied to the entire truck. And, I don't want any of this to change the appearance of the original Black Magno paint. How could anything possibly go wrong? LOL

Another consideration is to get the gloss color that you want and get a full stealth PPF treatment to get the all over matte look. Guess it depends on the price difference of matte versus regular paint and the cost of the xpel treatment, but one thing that is nice in this instance is if any surface damage occurs, just replace the xpel on that single panel instead of having to worry about a repaint.

I went to the Xpel website, and I found information on Xpel Stealth PPF for matt paint. They mention "Magno" paint, and they show a partial picture of a new G wagon. This sounds encouraging

And a big "thank you" to Bob Z for being a consistent source of good information!
My apologies to the OP for highjacking his thread.

Regular ceramic coatings will not turn your matte paint glossy. It may add a bit of more sheen, but it will still be matte/satin. Every matte PPF that I've seen has slightly more sheen than the actual paint anyways so I think added sheen is perfectly fine.
In other words, I don't think anyone is going to be disappointed with a satin ppf's sheen.
Did you say earlier that you also applied a ceramic coating to your entire truck? Which product did you use? Did the ceramic coating make any noticeable change to the sheen? In other words, I don't think anyone is going to be disappointed with a satin ppf's sheen.
