RR LWB to a G63
We've had Lexus, Volvo, Infiniti, Mercedes GL550, GLE, and RR LWB as our last few vehicles and will only buy SUVs. The RR was previously my favorite to date. Ultra comfortable, plenty of room, looked great, nice stereo, quiet, reliable, and actually well priced for what you get. Drove it for 44 months with no complaints. Moving to the G was a leap of faith but I've wanted one for 20 years. Would never have actually bought one until the recent remodel however.
Picked it up two weeks ago, had the front windows tinted, exoshield on the windshield, and ceramic coating next week because I purchased it with plans to keep it for a long time.
So how does it compare? The G drives differently for sure. RR is more like a luxury sedan. G is more like a luxury truck. I personally like pickup trucks and jeeps so while it's different it is also a fun change.
The G63 is just so unique from anything else I've ever driven. Rides like a truck, sits up super high, elements of a jeep inside (with narrow dash, grab handle, and flat windshield), great offroad capabilities, interior is over the top amazing, crazy fast, sounds like a sportscar, and looks like a rockstar. It is addictive on another level. Never get tired of looking at it (and neither do others), hearing the engine, or driving it around. It's basically an exotic car that is also practical. I love it so far.
What do I miss about the RR? Comfortable ride but the G is just so special and also comfortable imo especially the front seats with much better massage options which I utilize daily. Extreme room for all passengers in the RR. G is not a vehicle we can travel in with all 5 family members for any distance. Kids are just too big now. That being said my oldest (now 16) thinks it's the coolest thing that he has ever seen. Better gas mileage. G is not good at all. Touch screens were nice but Comand is good too. Easier to get in and out of than the G. RR is also 50k less which is hard to believe because it's really great in its own right.
Am I happy with the G63. Very much so. It is a vehicle that puts a smile on my face whenever I'm in it. I could literally stare at it for hours. I drive it even when I have no place to go. It is just fun. Really fun. The complete opposite of boring. Sometimes when you dream about owning something for many years and actually get it, the reality doesn't match your dream. In this case, it has actually exceeded it.
As nervous as I was coming from the RR, I'm so happy to finally have a G wagon. It is something that needs to be experienced for yourself if it's been a dream of yours like it has been for me. Get your perfect spec (like mine is to me) and it will literally take your breath away every day you get in it. Hard to put a price tag on that. What other daily driver can stir your emotions like that? None for me that I can think of.

There are far less G's on the road than RR. I wanted something of more road presence. The G truly checks ALL of my boxes so thats why I made the order. I truly don't have enough experience behind the wheel of 550/63 but based on all reviews, this new G is the way to go! For the records, I would choose a 550 over a RRS. Also keep in mind I will be getting a full size RR for an additional ride about 6 months after taking delivery of the G63. RR is classic, comfort, stylish and an overall good machine. Just HATE the tech, drives me CRAZY!!!!

Don't think you will regret it if you do move forward with the wagon. Actually believe you will really love it and will not want to sell anytime soon. Best of luck in whatever you decide.

Thanks, @G-Dreaming ! The dealer sent me pictures of my car when it arrived there last weekend. Reminded me why I was so excited to start with! I'm hoping to finalize numbers tomorrow, and then justify an "essential travel" trip to go and pick it up over the weekend

It is surreal when you finally take it home.
