I started my search fairly recently, two weeks to be exact. Test drove a few G550 (the last year of the NA and the first year of the turbo) and a 2018 G 63. I would like to thank MB world forum member "Holson" for taking the time to respond to my PM's and sharing his years of wisdom. I loved the G63 but couldn't justify the price tag given my finances. I knew that G55 was my siren song but for me it was always about ownership history and condition. One night when I was scouring some west coast ads, I stumbled across the most uninspiring ad on a 2002 G500. But a single owner, well maintained rust free example from San Rafael, CA cannot and should never be ignored. Exchanged a few more mediocre pics, ran the pics by my dear buddy in So Cal and we both decided the vehicle is worth pursuing. Very next day I made contact with the owner, spoke to the local MB dealership. I had literally a few hours to pull the trigger sight unseen as there were two local parties interested in looking at the vehicle. The owner being an incredibly nice person who patiently answered all my questions over the phone immensely helped my confidence. Even though I had very little to work with in terms of HQ pics of the vehicle. Good things take time in life to come by. But in my case much to my delight that was not the case ..This G was in such an immaculate condition. I feel blessed to get to be this gem's next custodian. I call it THE DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH

single owner, custom ordered, well maintained CA car, can’t go wrong. Love the older plate too, I’d keep that for car history sake.
same color as a 2001 clk55 I used to own, really pretty bright white (cooler white) color - A pain to keep clean and I found myself obsessively removing dust and pollen Because it looked so good clean. I’ve become lazy with my grey G
Enjoy it. I would personally keep it as close to stock but curious if you plan to mod it at all.
Congratulations and welcome to the club! I just took ownership of a one owner G55 last Saturday. I believe we were in the same boat and both found exactly what we were looking for with happenstance crossings.
Looking forward to following this truck on the forums.
We enjoyed my wife’s Macan, but it sits in the middle land between a truck and car. The G is unmistakably masculine and truck. The Macan will never have the polarizing personality or feel as unique as a G.
Went for a nice long drive today .. Oh boy it drives so nice and tight. Unexplicable for a car that's close to 100K miles. Speaks volumes about the build quality and the care the vehicle has received.

Great find! You definitely found a gem. The truck looks mint and was definitely treated well over its life, and the white color really sets it apart. Great photos by the way. The photo parked on the hill overlooking the water and mountains is poster worthy.
As someone soaking in all the history of the G wagon, I'm led to believe that early G's are rarely produced in Alabaster white. I have no plans to convert the looks to a more modern G-wagen or an AMG wannabe. The vehicle from the looks and stance department is just perfect. I would be lying if I said that the sound of the V8 roar is anywhere close to the G550 (2014) that I test drove. Even the more muted G63 had more appeal to me than this sound. I have never driven a G55 which I am sure is as menacing as it gets. I would like to get your thoughts on how I can duplicate that raucous thumping sound of the G550. Can it even be remotely achieved with an easy retrofit without hacking the original parts ?? If there a conversion kit or do I have no choice but to chop OEM parts ?
Anyone care to comment on suggestions for me .. Again no cutting stock parts. What about going this route:
If you go to a muffler shop with the G63/G55/G550 mufflers, and these muffler support brackets they will be able to cut and weld your setup without throwing $600 in the bin for these adapters.
Just did a quick search and looks like there are a few aftermarket exhaust options.
