I'm new here. I just put a deposit (2k) down with my local dealer for a G63 build (most likely 2021). If anyone has advice or comments on the process and things to look out for along the way please post. After they received my deposit I was told I'm in the queue and havent been told what "position" I'm in or how long/short the lead time is. Should I speak with the general manager of the dealership to make sure I don't get lost in the shuffle?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

No, you are fine just follow up with the SA every few weeks. I have contacts at a couple dealers tell me they pulled back allocations so it does seem you will be getting a 2021; there is an order guide posted in the 2021 G thread. 2021s should start arriving in the dealers in December so those will have builds in September/October meaning allocations will be arriving at dealers in the summer. Did you ask how many people are in front of you? And ask how many G63s they received for 2020, which will give you an idea of how many they will receive for 2021, and you can ask if they had any taken back. Finally, when you get an allocation and the dealer enters your build information you will get a Purchase Order# (PO#) and that will indicate that there is a sold model in the system in your name as well as the dealer.

I asked the SA:
His reply:

There are 23 orders waiting to be placed in front of you. The purchase order number is generated when it is placed for production. If one becomes available, I will offer it to you.

It doesn't seem like I have an allocation. Do you agree?
- How many people are in front of me
- How many G63's have you received for 2020
- Did you have any taken back.

Unless you are dealing with a really big Mercedes store you won't be getting a 2021.
Most dealers will be lucky to see 12 G 63's in a model year.

It is from your dealer...they have no idea of how many requests other dealers have submitted. You can also ask them how many Gs they got the previous idea to give you an idea of how many they will get next year. You cannot go by 2020 due to the closure and MB pulling back allocations.
