New shoes for my 2016 G63 AMG!

Hey guys,

I wanted to quickly hop on here to show all of you my new tires I just purchased. After a lot of research I finally decided to go with the BF Goodrich KO2 All Terrains. I was looking for a beefier tire since I felt the stock tires were a bit on the bland side. I had to go with a 275/55/20 as opposed to the stock 275/50/20 since BFG does not make this tire in my stock size. Was a bit worried about rubbing but after testing 1 tire on my car it was apparent their was about an inch of room to move around! Super happy with how they came out. Let me know your thoughts!

Here’s a good comparison of the before and after. Front tire is the KO2 back tire was the stock ones.

No more MB:(
I like them, let us know how they drive. I want to definitely go to an AT tire once mine are worn but not many options in the stock size 275/50/20. Did you consider the Pirelli scorpion ATR's or Nitto's? Reasoning? Thanks.

Looks great. Makes the old tires look "mousey" by comparison. Curious about ride, handling and noise level.

Also interested in driving impressions with the K02's. I have a set sitting on my deck awaiting install.

Looks great. Definitely should have come like this from the factory. I'll be doing the same and going with a stock-ish size KO2 on the OE G55 wheels next spring. Where you previously on the Pirelli or Yokohama OE tires? After some miles, let us know how the comfort, road noise, and handling has changed!

Right? That’s what I always thought plus the KO2’s fill the tire well much better. I actually feel these run better, don’t notice any road noise but that is mostly due to the v8 haha.

love how it drives now, actually seems smoother since they absorb bumps much better. I will say they take a bit longer to slow down but all in all a much better drive.

drives great, don’t notice any road noise due to the loud v8. Pretty smooth drive as well. Absorbs all the bumps in the road much better. Only thing I noticed is it takes slightly longer to slow down. Otherwise I love em!
I did not look into Pirellis but did check out Nittos. After watching many reviews online I decided the KO2 was superior. I also like the look better as well.

Nice looking G!! I was debating on the KO2s but wanted more of an aggressive look on mine. I went with 285/55/20 Ridge Grapplers. You can hear a slight hum when driving fast but I don’t really mind it. In fact, I like the look more than the stock street tires it came with.

Not a great pic, but I just had 285/55/20 Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 3’s installed on my 2016 G63. No spacers or lift, everything stock. Very happy with the more fuller look of the wheel wells. No rubbing or issues, Very smooth ride and nice to have more of a side wall.

This tire size is about 4.8% larger in circumference. Have you asked your MB dealer if the speed sensor can be recalibrated? I installed 275/55R20's on my G (about +3%), but haven't yet inquired about this. Just wondering what's possible.

Difference is minimal and I don’t drive the G63 all that fast, so not concerned. That’s the reason I just went with tires and not a lift or spacers, not that those are issues either but this modification is pretty minor and easily reversed.

Is your truck on original suspension ?

The gap seems to be much less between tire and fender.

I don't plan on going back to the OE tire size because (as you already know) there is not much available in an AT rated tire. I'm not so much concerned with the speedo reading (+1 mph in a school zone or +3 mph on the interstate isn't likely to get you ticketed) as I am about the odometer. With your tire size, you'll be off 2500 miles at 50,000 and I'll be off by 1500, so how does this impact the required odometer disclosure affidavit when you sell the vehicle? There's about 1% difference between the two OE tire/wheel sizes on the G550 (275/55R19 and 275/50R20), but this isn't much more than the difference between a new tire and one that has only 10% of its tread left. I'm just curious about how speed sensor accounts for this and what the car's ECU can be programmed to accommodate.

Yes it was on OEM suspensions. But installed Fox 2.0 a month later when it arrived.
