2018 C63S
Just bought a 2018 G550 - couple of questions.

I made another thread a week ago about looking at a 2018 G63 with higher (70k miles) and most of you advised me against it. This past weekend we ran into a trade-in, literally the day before, of a magma red with night package G550 with 20k miles - already blacked out (tint).

Naturally my wife fell in love, so we pulled the trigger. Though I do have to say I hate how dated the interior looks and feels. Especially because I have a fully loaded 2018 C63S coupe already. The interior made me really second guess this.

1) Does it actually ride this rough?
2) I bought the extended warranty too. Anything I should look out for?
3) Any must-have mods?

Thank you!

Congratulations. Nice find with only 20K miles. Yes they do ride rough and have other idiosyncrasies but that's the appeal of the G for many. Especially those on this forum. Good luck and happy motoring!

Nice find, that's a good-looking G in red.

1) Does it actually ride this rough? A: Yes, the stock springs and shocks are a little rough, like the deacon says, it's part of the truck's idiosyncratic charm. 70's technology - rough truck ride, vague steering, upright driving position, rear barn door. But she's a solid piece of machinery.

2) I bought the extended warranty too. Anything I should look out for? A: rust under the front windshield rubber trim (water will collect there), go off-road and check the diff locks, check the front axle ball joint grease, general condition of joints and bushings underneath.
3) Any must-have mods?A: Ooooh, million dollar question... well not quite a million, maybe a few thousand. For a much improved, smooth ride, Thor springs and Fox or King shocks. Raise up the truck 2-3 inches and add 33 or 35 inch tires. She'll ride better and look much better too.

Yes, the ride on the 2013-18 models is harsh, but that is definitely part of the charm. You'll grow to love it. And as dated as the interior may look, your 2017 (I think based on the rubber around the third windows) still has CarPlay which is the same as any of the newer models...so atleast the interface is the same!
