Picked up my new to me 2015 G63. First things first - this is truly one of the worst cars that I’ve driven in terms of road manners, comfort, efficiency, etc. I half laugh when I say that because it’s also one of the most satisfying cars I’ve owned. Perhaps it’s the v8 sound that makes up for it, or it’s boxy style, or...I really don’t know. Looking forward to being a part of this forum. First Q’s first...are the ohlins that much better than the fox shocks? I know the car will never compare to my s63 but a slight improvement would be welcome. Suggestions on what other things that are must have upgrades?

Nice color combo! Love the classic dark blue with a tan interior. Since NYC streets are so bad, you will really be able to feel how stiff the suspension is, and as you said, the other road manners of the truck aren't exactly comfortable, but I have a grin on my face every time I'm in and out of the thing. Fox shocks are well regarded as adding more comfort since you can adjust how hard/soft you want the ride to be. Ohlins are probably a better design/materials/etc, but the price difference is a tough pill to swallow. I plan to go with Fox 2.0's if the Bilstein's I have yet to install are not comfortable enough.

Congrats. Just picked mine up a month ago. Love it. I have to agree that it is the harshest ride i have ever had to deal with but i still look for reasons to drive everytime.
Its a blast to drive. The rumble of the Exhaust is so sweet. I love it.
Congrats again

The styling of these things, along with the luxury (or lack thereof), comfort and driving style is an acquired taste. Kinda like drinking coffee black or hard liquor...but man, once you get there, its just pure joy.
Congrats and enjoy it in good health.

Besides upgrading the screen to an android powered wideer screen, other 'must' upgrades would be all weather floormats and better tires, given the winter ice and slush in NYC.
I have the weathertech floor liners (front, rear, and cargo) and they're ok. My fronts are curling and don'' fit that well, but the rear and cargo fit very well. I think ORC floor liners are the only other real option for full coverage, but the cost difference between the 2 sets is large. (~$320 vs ~$700)
For tires, the Pirelli Scorpion's (I have read) aren't great in the slush and ice. I plan on replacing with BFG KO2's when the winter comes around in the OE-ish size. They will provide better traction in the winter slush, provide the more aggressive look of an all terrain tire, and also be much better offroad to exercise the lockers. I considered a dedicated set of winter wheels/tires (I have done this on all my past cars with great success) and that is also a viable option.

It truly is the worst car I’ve also ever driven. I have a 14 and sometimes will daily for a few months. And switch on and off.
It really hurts my back and my arms driving this thing. I’m very young but I still cant stand the ride quality.
I still love it and it’s the best truck I’ve owned. But I like having it parked more than I like driving it 😂

Finally got to installing new shocks. Went with the Ohlins. The ride is much better now. Is there anything that can be done to improve the steering response?
