Thanks, and hopefully they get the next set of mats in soon!

And here is my last mod - Black Star on a Yacht Blue leather background. It is not permanently installed yet since I am not positive what steering wheel I will wind up with:

I added a little personal touch to small side trim strip, in the same color as the exterior. The letters are decals; however, another person I spoke with made the entire trim piece in Black Gel with the letters in Silver, just like "AMG" is on the G63. He will be selling them on Etsy if interested, which is where I got mine from although mine came from a different seller. And I had a custom emblem made for the back door, which should be my last cosmetic mod.

Not at all...I am surprised yours rub, I have the Adaptive Suspension option albeit I am not sure that matters since the ride height should be about the same: the tires are only 1/2" taller but they are 3/4" wider. Where are yours rubbing?

Otherwise I made one more exterior mod - "Black" Up Lights:

Take a pic of where you see it rubbing. Again, I have none.

@Bob Z. Did you do anything in particular for adhesion promotion on your blacked out badges? I'm about to pull the chrome ones of my wife's G63 and installed a set of bronze ones (black that I painted bronze), and wanted to know if you had any tips/tricks? I'd be paticularly interested to know how you got things to line up straight on the V8 Biturbo lettering. I'm thinking about framing the existing badges with painters tape so I have the location lined up, and then sticking the badges on using that template. Anything else you recommend? i did this once before on my wife's previous G63, but I wasn't able to get the Biturbo lettering as straight as I would have liked. Thanks.

Not really. I cleaned the areas well with 91 alcohol first and used painter's tape as well on the bottom and sides of where I wanted them to go, after I used tabs of tape on the back of the emblems first to decide where I wanted to put them, Mine are not in the original locations though since I liked them where I have them now. And I laid out the BITURBO letters in advance: I put them on wax paper and used a thin piece of painter's tape on the top (so I could see the top and bottom of the letters) that extended out on each side about an inch so I could hold it, carefully removed them from the wax paper and placed the entire strip on where I wanted it. Needless to say measure well and take your time!

Excellent idea on the painters tape on the top to place them. I'll give that a try. Did you use a heat gun to pull off the factory decals, or just take your time and pull them off? Thanks!

I used a hairdryer to warm them up while the wife pulled the dental floss from behind. It is nice to have an extra pair of hands even though we argue the whole time no matter what we are doing!

Actually no, I had them made by Yoast Fabrication (info@yofab.com) and just today another member here, ash0468, asked me for their info since he wants one. As I told him it is lot less to buy 2 so if you want one get in touch with him and you can each get one. I told Yoast to save the file, etc. in case others wanted one.

Any idea what material are they made from? Similar to materials and font from the OEM ones? They have some weight to it?
Saw a sample from a vendor somewhere and the finish looked cheap and lightweight.

Check out their web site and contact them since they can make them out of different materials: https://www.yofab.com/ I think mine look OEM but they are fairly light but they are not made of metal! If you want metal ones I use a guy in Russia (https://lascut.ru/), who make me custom ones for my Porsche and is making some for my custom Harley as we speak. But talk to Yoast since they have different materials as well and an easier way to mount them than I choose - someone who has not done this before may want to pay a little more for the easy to mount option,

hey Bob, is that the actual font from Mercedes or it is the closest you were able to find?
Thanks

Love the mods!

I have the 2020 Indium Grey G550 and wanting to upgrade the wheel as well but concern about the ride quality.
1. Does the 22" affect the ride quality much? The current 20" is pretty bumpy on harsh road but I just accept it as it is. I'm thinking about swapping with the other 20" Trail Package (matte black) wheel if the 22" create much harsher ride (even though so cool).
2. Where did you get the extended G63 muffler and can I install them myself? Hope you don't mind sharing about how much the cost?

Thank you much!

I did not notice any difference in ride quality but I have the Adaptive Suspension option and run 40/42 psi. I bought the G63 mufflers from a member here and the price was reflective of me buying the wheels so it would not make sense to say what I paid. I had my local shop install them but you can install them yourself since no cutting is involved, but you will need to get the G63 rear hangers and move the actuators over from your current mufflers.

Thank you, Bob,
Though I'm wondering: why would anybody sell their OEM G63 muffler tips?
I also saw youtube of some kids removing their G63 muffler to 'straighten' it (whatever that means);
again, why would they do that?
Different world we live in now...

Many people put aftermarket exhausts on, such as the square tip Akras...just need to find the right person at the right time! Or buy them new.

Has anyone else replaced their side protective strips in black like Bob did? I have tried contacting everyone I can find and they either dont have them or dont make them for US models. I contacted Mercedes and they can order them but they are $1400. That seems a little steep considering the european ones sell for $200 or so. I tried having them wrapped but they said it wasn't sticking to the resin/gummy material.

You can also buy some 1/2 Black Molding and use that as an alternative. Here is a place I had contacted before I found the stuff I used: https://repaintsupply.com/

Thank you. I ended up ordering some that fit the european model. I think the only reason it wont fit US Models is because we have the side markers/reflectors which I want to remove anyway. Fingers crossed they work. If anyone else is interested I can let you know once I get them
