Night Package Retrofit

Team,

my g63 is arriving in two weeks and without night package due to ordering issues etc.

my dealer is telling me they are not sure they can retrofit the parts (headlamps and turn signals) as he says they are not sure if those night package parts are compatible with the default ones.

is this real? Its cosmetic change. Wiring should be the same no?

Turns signals should be easy enough. Headlamps shouldn’t matter either but is the black on the headlamps that visible or even worth it? I can understand the resistance if the dealer is made to pay for it.

I’ve only been up close to a new G63 once and didn’t notice the headlights. Could someone explain the difference between the night version and non-night one?

Take a look at the 2020 Dealer Ordering Guide, which has pictures of both where you see the differences (easier to see than in the 2021 Guide).

It should just be plug and play so a matter of removing the old lights and putting in the new ones. Purely a cosmetic difference.

I don't think it's that big of a difference to be worth it, but if you are willing to pay for the parts and service, I'm not sure why the dealer is balking at making money.

Are you going to powder coat the bull bar, change out the rear bumper trim, and change the side mirrors to black as well?

bumper trim yes. Side mirrors no because my car is magno black. Bull bar can powder coat.

dealer is actibg like their service department doesnt know if its compatible and I think that defies all logic

,
You can replace the parts, but if you are doing it on your own dime then it will be ridiculously expensive. I wouldn't be surprised if each headlight alone is $2500.

For fun just looked. Yikes. I like the night package as a sub-$2,000 upgrade, but man you gotta really love some grey tinged headlights to pay these prices.

Night package headlamps MSRP $6,520 each side
463-906-73-01
463-906-74-01

Turn signals MSRP $420 each side
463-906-37-01
463-906-38-01

The website linked sells them for 25% off so I guess there's that.
