22" wheels rubbing
I'm looking for some help. I have a 2020 G550 and I upgraded my wheels for the stock 20's to 22's. They are rubbing when I make a hard turn. I first put on the 305/45/22 tires and that rubbed so I switched to the 295/40/22 and they rub too.
I'm really puzzled because the 295/40/22 setup is the same on the stock G63.
Please help!

Turn your wheel to where they are rubbing and take a picture and post it here. Several of us G550 owners have put G63 wheels on without rubbing. You could put some small spacers on though but I am curious to see where they are rubbing.

I have never understood the psychology of oversize wheels and big-a$$ tires, but then I've never experienced the perverse euphoria of hurling rocks and road debris at other motorists while cross-cutting lanes, and I have yet to equate sandblasted paint damage behind my wheel wells as the moral equivalent of carving notches in my pistol's hand grip. Cutting away plastic vents in you wheel wells seems extreme in order to gain less than an inch of extra tire width when you are the only one who is ever going to notice until you point it out.
A shorter sidewall tire will dramatically increase the stiffness of your ride, and improve the likelihood of wheel damage when you swerve to avoid a pothole and MB's lane keeping assist trajects you back onto a collision course with it.

First thing I would do if your vehicle is leased or financed is to read your contract's fine print to ensure whatever modification of any kind you are making is allowed. If deviating from the factory OE configuration is prohibited, you could find yourself in a world of hurt in the event of an accident as your insurance company would probably use this as a reason to deny coverage. You might also find yourself paying to have the vehicle restored to its OE configuration at the end of the lease or in the event of a repo. Even if you own the vehicle, hopping it up with a Renntech or substantially changing its handling with non-OE tires or other equipment could cause you insurance headaches if the worst happens.

It is fine to have an opinion but a lot of us here modify our Gs to make them our own and unique, and there is nothing wrong with that...our money, our choices. There is no need for you to inject your personal feelings and not answer the OP's question so maybe you are the one who should grow up.

Thanks, that was the trick. I appreciate it. (I shaved a little off the drivers side louver)

Is it rubbing on the inside closer to the frame, or the outside closer to the fender? I can't really tell from you pic since it shows the 1-1/4" clearance that doesn't rub. Looks like it could be maybe rubbing either on the very inside or the outside, but hard to say from the pic.

One thing to remember: just because two manufacturers say their tires are 295/40R22 doesn't mean they'll actually be the same size (width, height, overall outside rolling diameter). Between different manufacturers, the sizes can vary quite a lot depending on a lot of variables. Even within the same manufacturer family, sometimes they will differ.
