Transfer Case/Differential Fluid Change on a 2016 G63? Which Fluid?

All,

My five year service interval is coming but I am a bit confused on which fluid to buy since I'll be completing service on my end. The procedure looks fairly simple when looking at some videos online but if anyone here had insights, I would greatly appreciate it since this is my first time completing this type of service on the G.

First, can anyone point me in the direction of what fluids I need to buy? Unfortunately, I can't find a spec on this from Mercedes, and the manual only covers motor, coolant and brake line fluid that covers a spec (I.E 229.5 etc). From what I can gather, here is what I see:
  1. the front and rear differentials will need about 4 quarts total of 75W-85/90 weighted GL-5 fluid.
  2. The transfer case will need about four quarts of MB 236.15 fluid, so basically the same fluid I am purchasing for the transmission fluid change.
Can anyone who has completed these services advise if this is correct?

If you have all the MB fluid specs, such as 236.15, the website https://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/beam.en.html provides lists of fluids that meet each of the specs by brand and description. Is this what you're looking for or have I misunderstood?

not quite. The problem is I can’t find the spec. The 236.15 spec I mentioned is per some websites I was trying to buy fluid through but it’s I’m trying to get that validated. In the owners manual, the only fluid related specs I see are for engine oil, brake fluid and coolant. I don’t see anything in there for transfer case and differential fluid, plus searching on google isn’t providing a lot of results.

I’m not having much luck through the search function on mbworld as well. Has anyone here changes out these fluids of their G class? I was hoping there would be some more information out there since this is a common service item.

You might try attacking this from the lubricant manufacturer end. Some of their websites will recommend compatible lubricants for the vehicle you specify.. Motul and LiquiMoly are two such manufacturers, and you can download product data sheets. You might be able to then cross reference their products with others and eventually determine the MB specs. It's really annoying that MB regards these fluid specs proprietary.
