I see from other posts (e.g. new E series) that you have some seriously good source for what's coming down the pike.
Do you have anything more on the 2003 - I see messages like "production starts July 1" and "mine is being delivered Aug 19th as a 2003" but of course, nothing official.

There are very few changes planned for the 2003 G-class and those have been posted here before. I also found the following link on another forum with more info:

Ask your dealer when they expect to start recieving 2003 ML or C-class models and they'll tell you mid August. The late November introduction of the 2002 G-class was because it was a new model, but the 2003 models will arrive at the same time as other MB 2003 models. In general, it takes about 6-8 weeks from production to delivery of the US version of the G-class (at least in California).
What's interesting is that the COMAND system in the 2003 G-class is still CD-ROM based, but it has an optional harmon kardon sound system. That is interesting because the COMAND system is manufactured by Blaupunkt/Bosch, but the second generation COMAND is supposed to be built by Becker/Harmon and based on a DVD-ROM according to:

MB seem to have kept the option number (810) for the Harmon Kardon system the same as the one used for BOSE.
I imagine this is "confusing" their print department, and in fact it has the BOSE system.
The new DVD comand and HK system use the MOST bus for digital communication between all the bits. The old COMAND (etc) use D2B. So I doubt its possible to connect the HK system to a old COMAND system

1. Umfänge Änderungsjahr 2002
Neue Serienausstattungen
Außenspiegel
Die völlig neu gestalteten Außenspiegel werden ab dem Änderungsjahr 02 mit integrierten Blinkleuchten und Vorfeldbeleuchtung geliefert. Während die seitlichen Blinkleuchten oberhalb der Zierleisten entfallen, bleiben die Ausstiegsleuchten in den Türen erhalten.
Beifahrerhaltegriff
Der Serienumfang des G 270 CDI und G 320 wird um den Beifahrerhaltegriff in Leder ergänzt.
Dachhimmel
Zur Erhöhung der Wertanmutung wird der Dachhimmel und die A-Säulenverkleidung bei der Ausführung mit langem Radstand neu gestaltet.
Handbremse
Die Aufwertung der Optik und Haptik wird durch die Ummantelung des Griffes der Handbremse mit Leder erreicht.
Multifunktionslenkrad
Das bisherige Multifunktionslenkrad wird ersetzt durch das neue W211-Multifunktionslenkrad. Die elektrische Lenkradverstellung befindet sich nun mehr an der Lenksäule.
Neue Sonderausstattungen
Cupholder vorne und hinten ( Code FG 2)
Der Lieferumfang der Cupholder umfaßt einen Cupholder vorne und zwei Cupholder im Fond. Der vordere abklappbare Cupholder mit Netz befindet sich rechts neben dem Wählhebel des
Automatikgetriebes an der Mittelkonsole. Die Cupholder im Fond sind hinter der Mittelkonsole auf der Batterieabdeckung positioniert. Sie sind mit zwei Zentrierspangen versehen, die für besseren Halt sorgen.
Gummimatten (Code V 46)
Auf vielfachen Kundenwunsch wird der Lieferumfang „Gummimatten“ geändert. Ab Änderungsjahr 02
sind die Gummimatten im Fahrgastraum für alle Fahrzeugtypen (auch G 400 CDI und G 500) verfügbar.
Die bisher mit diesem Code mitgelieferte Laderaummatte ist nicht mehr im Lieferumfang enthalten.
Diese kann ab diesem Zeitpunkt separat unter Code VL 4 dazu bestellt werden.
ISOFIX-Kindersitzbefestigung im Fond (Code SD 0)
Neu bei der G-Klasse ist nun auch die "ISOFIX"-Kindersitzbefestigung erhältlich. Mit deren Hilfe lassen sich zwei spezielle "ISOFIX"-Kindersitze einfach, schnell und sicher im Fond installieren.
Die Kindersitzbefestigungen stehen für den rechten und linken Sitz der Fondsitzbank zur Verfügung. Diese SA ist nur bei den Fahrzeugen mit langem Radstand bestellbar.
Lenkrad heizbar (Code VL 0)
Erstmals mit Änderungsjahr 02 wird ein heizbares Lenkrad angeboten. Die Sonderausstattung ist verfügbar für die Ausführung Lederlenkrad oder Holz-Leder-Lenkrad, wobei nur der Lederanteil beheizt wird. Die Bedienung der Heizung wird durch einen Hebel an der Lenksäule vorgenommen.
Kraftstoffilter mit Wasserabscheider (Code KL 5)
Insbesondere in den Ländern mit einem hohen Wasseranteil im Dieselkraftstoff ist der Kraftstofffilter mit Wasserabscheider von großer Bedeutung. Der für den G270 CDI und G400 CDI
lieferbare Kraftstofffilter scheidet mittels eines speziellen Filterpapiers das im Dieselkraftstoff enthaltene Wasser ab. Durch einen Wasserstandsensor wird über eine Kontrollleuchte, die anstelle des Ablagefaches vor dem Wählhebel des Automatikgetriebes installiert wird, angezeigt, daß der Behälter entleert werden muß. Der Behälter hat ein Fassungsvermögen von 250ml und wird unter dem Fahrzeug auf der Höhe des Verteilergetriebes fahrerseitig am Rahmen montiert. Um die Wasserabscheidung auch bei Temperaturen unter +10°C optimal funktionsfähig zu halten, wird der Kraftstoff mittels eines sich selbst steuernden Heizelementes vorgewärmt.
Soundsystem "harman/kardon" (Code E 66)
Das neue Soundsystem wurde speziell auf die G-Klasse abgestimmt und umfaßt 10 Lautsprecher. Der Verstärker hat eine Leistung von bis zu 8 x 40 W, 4 Hochton- und Tieftonausgänge und eine integrierte Frequenzweiche. Das Soundsystem „harman/kardon“ vermittelt somit ein perfektes
Klangerlebnis. Der Verstärker befindet sich unter dem Fahrersitz, der Subwoofer ist unter dem Fondsitz untergebracht. Diese SA ist nur bei den Fahrzeugen mit langem Radstand bestellbar.
Multikontursitz für den Beifahrer (Code SM 8)
In Ergänzung zum Fahrer-Multikontursitz, Code SM7, ist ab Oktober 2002 der Multikontursitz für den Beifahrer ebenfalls lieferbar.
Lackfächer
Die Lackfarbe Circongrün (6 257) wird zum 01. Juni 2002 durch Cubanitsilber-Metallic (9 723) ersetzt.
Der Standardlackfächer der G-Klasse setzt sich neu zusammen aus:
· dem Lackprogramm der neuen E-Klasse (ohne Sonderlackierungen)
· den designo-Lackierungen (siehe untenstehende Liste)
Farben auf Kundenwunsch/Produktionsauftrag
Farben von Drittherstellern außerhalb des Standardlackfächers sind auf Kundenwunsch gegen
Mehrpreis erhältlich. Folgende Prämissen müssen bei einer derartigen Bestellung erfüllt sein.
· Lack auf Wasserbasis
· Keine designo varicolor und chromaflair
Lacke
