Came across this website directory of independent Mercedes-Benz mechanics/repair shops (searchable by city/state). I have no experience with any of them, but plan to stop by one that's close by and check them out before a need arises.

Stopped by Animas Automotive (www.animasautomotive.com) this morning in Durango, CO. AA specializes in imports (several lux brands were parked outside), including MB. The have MB's SDS and trained personnel (sure beats driving all the way to Santa Fe with the CEL on). They've been around for 25 years under the same ownership (one advantage of a small town is businesses don't last long unless they're competent and honest). I plan to take my G there at the end of summer for a brake fluid flush, and will post a follow-up.
