Smile 2018 G63... What next ???

OK
Got my 2018 G63 11/19.
I LOVE it but I am kinda getting bored.
Yesterday a rep from my local exotic dealer was waiting for me at my business.
He was driving a 2018 Bentayga and told me he had noticed my car while driving by several times going to work and wanted to talk to me.
Looked over my car and asked if I wanted to sell or work a trade towards the Bentayga LOL. I like the Bentayga but it had around 34K on it (more than ideal for in my mind).
Anyway it kinda got me thinking, I can get pretty close to what I paid for the G but I really don't even know what I would want.
I need something I can daily drive (4 seats, 4 door ideally but 2 door isn't out of the ? as the kid is 8 and can get in and out himself). AWD since we get snow here and I hate buying brand new and taking the off the lot hit right away LOL
I love the new S Class but Id want a 22 due to the display and a few other upgrades and as I said I don't want to buy brand new. I like the new E63S but are there any changes in the 22? (display or anything?).
I may just end up keeping my G but I may not if I find the right thing.
Max I want to spend is 130K
I do love the DB11 and I can find a 17 or 18 under 20K miles in my budget but I do not know as Ive always heard an AM is like a boat, best days are the day you buy it and the day you sell it due to reliability
Previously I have had LX470, Wrangler Rubicon UL, M3, M335ix, Tahoe 2 door, Cadillac ETC and several Grand Cherokees

Here is my G, I put a Brabus rear bumper on it and these wheels & tires as I do not get a truck on performance tires unless you have Miami or LA weather all year. I still have factory wheels and tires.

The dealer is kissing your *** because the used car market is astronomical right now and they want your car. The Bentayga is a glorified Audi SQ8. As is the Urus to the RSQ8.
Upgrade to a New G and wait until the market calms down to buy and dew sports car. Used cars are way too much right now.

What kind of money is he offering you on your G63? How many miles on it, and color interior? I might be interested if you want to sell it.

That being said, do you have any interest in Range Rovers? A buddy of mine wants a new G63, but won't pay over sticker so he is on a wait list for one. In the meantime he drove a few other options, and the Range Rover Sport SVR is a rocket ship. Might fit the bill for your needs in terms of performance and all-wheel drive. If you look around you can pick up a good one for reasonable money. There's a white 2020 here in Houston for $120k, that only has 2,000 miles on it. I'm guessing dealer demo. You could probably scoop it up for $115K. I think sticker on it was north of $130k.

I'd be curious to know the number as well. I have about 18K miles on my 2018, no interest in selling but nice to know the worth.

As for the SVR, it's a legitimate monster. I have a good friend that owns one and it's bonkers.

He more or less offered me 130K trade towards the Bentley which they have priced at $137,500 and has 34,500 miles
It has all service, the dealership group is one of the larger ones in the US and this is at their local high line store.
It is a beautiful car but I doubt it will hold value anywhere near as well as the G over the next year or two.

I looked at a DB11 today as I have always loved Aston Martin but it just won't work as the back seat is a joke even for my 8 year old LOL

My G has the Black Designo Exclusive Nappa and about 23K on it.

Range Rovers are beautiful, I had a sport and it was OK but if I ever were to buy another it would have to be the LWB Range Rover yet their resale kinda kills it for me.

The two cars that seem to interest me most are the 21 E63S and the new V8 Wrangler Rubicon coming out (Jeeps have great resale). Total opposites I know.

I LOVE the new S Class but would want a 22 for the display upgrades, The GT53 is pretty nice but I think it and the S are a little longer than ideal for me.

I loved my M3 but want something a little bigger and the M5 just didn't do it for me when I drove it. I found the E63S much more comfortable all around.
I had an Audi RS5 for a few months and hated it... In my mind Audi is the Buick of Germany (not as comfortable as a MB and don't handle as well as a BMW)

I love the E63S, but if you buy new you will take a kick in the nuts on resale if you buy a new one at or near MSRP. Just the nature of that car. Great car though. The V8 Rubicon is available now, but they will face some depreciation as well since the $80K+ Jeep market is fairly small. Plus, there is NOTHING impressive about the ride quality of a Jeep. The V8 might make it more fun, and you can obviously do all kinds of mods, but most dealers are asking ADMs on the 392 Wranglers right now, so you would likely face even more depreciation down the road once supply chains normalize. Your G63 is more fun on road than a Wrangler will ever be. I suppose the advantage of getting the Jeep is you could do some mods to it (lift, wheels, tires, bumpers, etc.) and then still pocket some money after the sale of your G63.

I've driven the GT63S, and it is insane. Way fun car that is way faster than you would think a 4 door sedan should ever be. If that's in your price range, maybe look at a good used one or CPO if you can find a good deal.

You can never go wrong with an S class, but I'd wait for the '22 upgrades as well.

$130K on your truck seems like a pretty good offer. I'd stay away from the Bentley for resale reasons, but they are a very nice driving truck. Is the one they are trying to sell you the W12, or the V8? I'd only consider the W12 if it was me, and in that price range that's what you should hold out for. My buddy just traded his '17 W12 model for $134,000 and it only had 11,000 miles on it. They sold it for $142,500 a couple weeks later. Just giving you some market data to use.

Got the 2018 G63 1.5 years ago. Its awesome. Still not bored with it.
but i just added the 2019 Porsche Cayenne Turbo to my stable.
its really comfortable and fun to drive. Its a sport car in a truck shape.
crazy fast.
i love them both differently.
the Cayenne Turbo is more my daily driver
and the G is my weekend car.

New V8 Defender could be a good option especially up where you live. Boxy SUV like a G but with crazy good ride quality. I kinda want a two door V8 with the smaller 20 inch wheels and all terrains. That said you are kind of all over the place with looking at SUVs and also sports cars. Cayenne Turbo is another good suggestion from others. Maybe grab a 6 speed manual Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing? Put a deposit down on a C8 Z06? Audi RS6 Avant? M5 CS? Porsche Taycan CrossTurismo is dope if you are open to electric. Lots of options.

2018 amg63 G Wagon
I was just offered 126k for my 2018 AMG 63 G Wagon with Black Designo Pkg and 10k miles on it. The dealers are pushing hard for used inventory as there is nothing on their lots. The only new G wagons currently on lots in Houston are the special edition models for a 10k higher MSRP. But it's a moot point as the cars are flying off the lots for 75-80k over sticker. Honestly, I'm very happy with my current vehicle. I love it's classic build, look and feel, bells and whistles of the new incarnations, notwithstanding.

If you haven't had a Z06 yet, they are fast. The power is intoxicating. If you buy one, you won't be selling because you are bored with it.

owning a G63 you reached the top of the food chain - there is nothing better -
once driven a G, you cannot drive another car - you will regret the sale and get another one.

First I saw your name, and thought "Hey, I know a Jay Rusovich". Then I saw you were in Houston, and I have to assume it's the Jay Rusovich I know. Michelle and I ran into in the parking lot of Central Market a week or two ago. Funny when you find people you know on random forums!

Problem with selling your 2018 is finding something else to drive right now while inventory on cars is so low. That will be a good one to hang on to!

Hey Mike,

Yea I've been on these car forums for quite a while and really enjoy people's perspectives/experiences. I'm keeping my G Wagon because it's got that old school badass vibe and it's the last year of that run. Great to see you're on the forums!

They are attractive. Adrenaline seekers see it and show off automatically like a knee jerk reaction. Mostly sport bike riders on outskirt roads or freeways. They love to do wheelies on the freeway, race and alert speed traps. One guy was standing up and and then he did a wheelie for us at 75 MPH.

This is true. Where do you from a G? Every once in a while I wonder about trading but then anything else will be a lesser vehicle. So I decide to keep it knowing I'd regret it later.

Still driving my G, still debating selling it but it's a tough call as an SUV is the ideal vehicle for me and none of the alternatives hold their resale nearly as well.
The X5 M is really nice but I just feel Id lose my but maybe not horrid if I get a 2020
I drove a DB11 recently and fell in love... Now with AMG guts they are quite reliable but with having a 8 year old the back is kinda a joke and Id need to buy or lease an inexpensive truck or SUV for work stuff.
The AMG GT63 is nice but Id rather a new S and don't wanna buy new.
Porsche SUVs just don't do it for me but the Panamera Turismo is kinda cool but why not get the E63 wagon instead.

2018 amg63 G Wagon
I have been going through a similar dilemma. My 2018 AMG 63 G Wagon is hard to replace. i could spring for the outrageous over sticker price of the new ones, wait two years for a new one ay MSRP or just hang on to what I have [which is already great] and see if some special vehicle pops up. Ultimately, you'll never find another vehicle that is better made, feels as authentic with the cool retro lines or has the same resale value. So after looking at everything on the market, I had my car detailed and am happy again with my 3 year old purchase!
