G63 on order but shortage??

Hi guys, I placed an order for a G63 at sticker 4-5 months ago. Was told last week it’s a 5-6 month wait to get it. Most likely a 22’ model but as of last week, MB said that the v8 Cars will not be made for a bit.. would this affect my order? Estimated arrival feb, order is submitted but no VIN given yet..

will it be a 2022 but a MY2021?

someone plz help as this will be my daily driver

unless it is a MY21, and you have an allocation...you most likely are not getting a car

is a 2022 g63 My2021 possible? My is year it’s manufactured, not the model year.. so where’s the cut off? December 31?

also; I heard Mb told some dealers that they get a final order or something like that, so since mines already in queue I’m hoping im safe

Apparently the last US production batch (for now) will be in December, so it's possible for deliveries in 2022 since it'll take a while to make it over to your dealer.

right does that mean it’ll begin to be built or finished by then? Dealership said December will be the start build date per their expectations on prior cars and timeline but since the v8 they’re unsure. GM said it’ll be a 2022 model 6 months approx but that doesn’t answer whether it’s a MY21 or MY22

If you have an allocation/PO# for a 2021, it should be built as a 2021. From what I understand, they just won't allocate any MY2022 builds.

I’m on “the list” and my order was “placed”… not sure what that means

Ask them if you have a VIN# yet. At that point, it's pretty certain it'll be built.

Not yet, VIN is assigned when parts are being put together. Right now my order was placed with dealer and MB accepted it months ago. Waiting to reach my specific order to start building

Ask your dealer if you have a PO number. If you have this then you have an actual order for a car. If you are just in the order bank you have nothing.

PO is not assigned per someone at dealer today. Have to really confirm it but they said it’s looking pretty good but AMG/Mb can cancel or move orders around without much notice

Then you have nothing. There are no more allocations coming.

GM told me something else a few min ago. Any allocations accepted before end of 2021 should be good to go

My understanding is the production line stops Dec 31. There won't be any completing what's partially built. No builds will start that won't be finished by closing time.

Yes, if you have a PO number today. Sounds like you don't which means you don't have a production slot. No production slot no car.

You 'placed an order' only if got PO number in the paper receipt. No PO number, no order. Your dealer and GM treated you like a kid.

Hate to be that guy, but you need to go and talk to your dealer to get a solid answer. People in a forum won’t know more than them for your specific situation.

Not a shot this order will fill

I had 2 orders sold out from under me by unscrupulous dealers (first actually a broker). A dealer I was working with tried pushing me into a 550 which I really was not interested in. The one pearl he shared was this bulletin about 2 weeks before it appeared online. I immediately bought a 63 for 40k over. If you can find a dealer with inventory and can still get 40-50 over I would do it. The car is insane and will most likely be the last opportunity before we are stuck with electric garbage.

You had sales orders and deposits in both cases and they were sold to other buyers willing to pay more? Did you have a chance to counter-offer, or were the Gs just gone?
