Front passenger seat stuck in forward position

14 G63

So a long time ago my front passenger seat got stuck all the way forward. The cooling and heating work but the switch doesn’t move it in anyway.

Now my truck was at the stealer getting the ECU and wire harness replaced and for whatever reason they decided to try to diagnose the seat. They told me it would take a few hours of diagnosing and I told them to forget about it.

I got my truck back after a long time and the dealer left the carpet totally pulled back, the fuse box cover missing and box exposed along with 4-5 wires hanging lose and freely under the passenger dashboard. I have complained to the dealer about this nonsense they did. I am hoping they will plug everything back and replace the missing cover. I really can’t understand some of these MB dealers they are just the worst.

In the meantime I was trying to see what the issue with the seat can be. It’s stuck all the way up front and I cannot have anyone sit there.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

My guess is that they left everything torn apart because they know you'll be back to get the repair done (lol).
Seriously, it's not likely anyone here can diagnose this problem, if the dealer's service techs, equipped with wiring diagrams, expected it would take hours. The first thing they likely did was check the underseat wiring to ensure no loose connectors or pinched/severed wires caught in the guide tracks, before tearing into the fuse panel and other wiring, but it makes sense to double check. Check for power at the fuse, and then trace wiring as they started to do. If there's power at the fuse but not at the seat motor, there's got to be a broken wire or loose connector. Is all the seat motion inoperable, or just the forward/aft motion?

Yes, take it back to the dealer and have them repair. Life is too short to chase this down.

This same dealer replaced a wiring harness for a total of $14k which was not needed and than realized the problem was the ECU and charged another couple grand for that.

There response to the unneeded wiring harness repair “stuff happens at least you got a new harness” I didn’t pay for the repair my insurance company did but somebody that couldn’t figure something that simple out is not somebody I trust to look or do the seat repair.

I complained to them about the seat they claim they didn’t touch it or anything related. But they said I can possibly bring it back and they’ll put everything back.

I am guessing it’s simple problem when the seat was moved all the way up because my girl lost her phone must have punched or accidentally disconnected some wires.

Side note the service director told me specifically had I myself brought the vehicle in they wouldn’t charge a couple hours labor but they have different procedures for insurance companies. What’s even more annoying is that I had a full extended warranty that covered this repair and was willing to pay for everything but the service writer didn’t know how to open up two RO with one being for the insurance company and one being for the warranty company. I was then told the service advisor that I was dealing with was fired due to poor performance and “dishonest” communication....whatever that means.

I guess I will take it to my own mechanic and figure out what’s up. My extended warranty expired a week ago.

You are correct in not trusting that dealer. A good local MB mechanic would be ideal.
