2013 G63 Coolant Leak

2013 G63 Coolant Leak
Just purchased a 2013 G63 for the wife. Runs quite well, but I noticed a coolant puddle under it and the check coolant light is on. Before I go to MB and spend unnecessary $$$, does anyone have any information on this PLEASE???

Plastic/aluminum radiators are prone to wearing out due to expansion. Upper and lower radiator hoses have plastic couplings that are also weak points. You can save the radiator expense if you have a radiator shop willing to press the sides back on.

First, buy a jug of coolant and make sure your reservoir is kept at the correct fill level while you're diagnosing the problem. Most probably there is a leak in the plumbing somewhere as the overflow tank catches coolant from heat expansion (unlikely you're overheating). Normally it's easy to spot a leak, but engine components are now packed so tight it's difficult to see anything. A radiator shop is a logical first stop.

My 2017 G63 was just at the dealer cause I noticed some engine coolant residue in the wheel well area. Turned out the cap was cracked and there was a hole in the reservoir. Covered under the vehicle’s warranty that’s about to expire.

to keep record of these things. I noticed the g wagon forum has barely info like this. Guess it makes sense since most owners go to the dealer I imagine. But we owners that like to do our own stuff or have our own guy should post these things more to help out the community.
