Question Transfer Case Visit Workshop? 2008 G500 Any Advice?

Won't even attempt to start, never had any issues in the past, anyone dealt with this before? Would prefer to try and fix it myself if possible before hauling it to a shop.
Had heard that the transfer case on these could leave you stranded, luckily it was parked at home, haven't had any real issues with it in the past. Simple fix or too early to tell?

Miles? If you don’t get any traction here, cross post to clubG or Facebook g Class page…

have you tried rocking it back and forth to get the TC out of neutral?

I've gotten this warning a few times...I've solved it by shutting the truck off and turning it on again.

It may be a mechanical issue but it could be something as simple as an electrical gremlin. Try that fix first.

The transfer case actuator motor is failing - a known common failure item. So much so I almost consider it a maintenance item. The cheesy nylon gears inside wear out so the position sensor can't figure out what range (high/low/neutral) you are in and so flags an error. You should have it checked out soon or you find yourself stuck in neutral at the worst possible time.
