I did a test fit of some Hellas I have sitting in the garage from another project.... Like the look, but not enough clearance and I think a bit too much blockage of the radiators, coolers... Planning to order three LP6's and a Spod kit to drive them all - found there's a good location for the panel on drives side over Steering arm to mount it.
The 55 is starting to come together - I've been travelling a ton the last few months.... the 4" JWO kit is on and working really well, needed to solve for a bad master cyl and new pads all the way around that took far too long... Stealership pulled wrong part in twice..
The Echo rims I thought would work - but decided to go back to the Silver Grenades - they just seem more in line with the merc heritage. ( the Echos and 325/60 Toyo's are avail)
The JWO flares help provide a bit more rugged look I think - less mall crawler... and the wheel spacers maximize stance for the time being. I lucked into a Gobi rack and am stocked to have that on - it's a really well designed steup. I've got the ORC rear ladder new left over...
The AFN rear bumper is still lacking the needed connection parts for the door - 2 months later.... hopeful that will get solved quickly - I got some but not all of the parts in the last order...
Have to get the lights and Warn winch on tomorrow...
Next up sorting the Exhaust ( Eurowise) and thinking ORC snorkels.... in it's natural habitat
@periodcorrect - sorry those 20's sold a while ago.... have the black Alpha Echo's avail with 325/60/18 Toyo AT3's - all but new if that might be of interest... I went back to the Silver Grenades on the G yesterday ......
Added some bits to the rig over the holidays before hitting the road from TX to VA, and headed to NC and ME in the next month.... liking the 4" suspension setup but need to do the Front arms and DC front driveshaft next... headed down to visit Eurocharged shortly.
1500 miles was painless except for the occasional fellow driver who didn't appreciate my vehicle selection I guess....
hoping to get some real pics in the next weeks to share.
It's getting there - the ride is great with the JWO springs and Koni working well together across a wide range of scenarios. There is notable wandering so will do the EW arms and also have a light front DS vibration ( much like the 80 series LC's it's a known issue past 2 1/2" of lift typically) the wider stance and tires give it good road miles but probably do accentuate the alignment woes.
I saw one new Sinter G63 and that was the sole G in 1500 miles...
The AFN is a clean fit and design and I was drawn given it's not be a latched swing-away - great ease of use. The mechanism is a bit finacky to get adjusted and the finish isn't ARB spec - already getting some light chipping on corners etc... But it's one of the only solution in the space for now.
The front bumper is designed nicely minus lack of calculation for a real winch - it seems to be configured for the non- top mounted solenoid models,as there isn't enough front clearance for it against the top plate ( I put in the relative budget VR12s).. Same comment on finish quality.
Thanks - it's coming together finally..... I have tested at a local construction site that a friend owns and it flexes fully (such as it is) without rubbing except a slight bit on the Downpipes, hoping the Eurowise front control arms much things an 1" forward ...
All the lockers worked well .... still lots of loose ends to finish up that are cosmetic or armour ( it needs mid and rear skidsplates)
Amazing build! I wish I could do the rear tire carrier bumper, but I've been told by an expert that the '09-'12 G Wagons have a slightly revised rear end from previous that doesn't have the necessary mounting points. I tried...
Perhaps we can do the G-Wagon Colorado trails meet up one of these days!
I may be up that way in Feb and we can meet up and look at the AFN... not sure they have their specs sorted based on my experience with the front winch mount and attachment points.- so there may be hope....
So it went to he Eurowise Spa to address some expected and un.... issues related to the 4' lift.... for anyone considering the jump - do your math.... to get it right isn't for the timid ! but that said it's now running better then I could've expected !
the new planned adds:
Eurowise front custom arms and bushings - the darting was daunting prior, probably accentuated by wide 325's and the really wide stance ( 18x9et25 PLUS 30mm wheel spacers.....
Eurowise front DC driveshaft - seems to have solved 95% of driveline vibration - and I suspect the balance is either tire or spacer ...
Eurowise custom exhaust - amazing sounding around town.... a bit much at 80+ but will work with Mike to sort that...
The "while-in-there" s:
Koni shock spacers - clever solution to get the full travel....
rear lower shock bottom mount guard
Front Eurowise Custom frame member notched and redesigned to allow full Driveshaft travel without binding
Front swapbar spacer
rear Longer/ adjustable swaybar links
I have 70o miles on it since and couldn't be happier.... hoping to wheel in later in the month up in Asheville to get a read on how travel has improved...
Yes on 38's in the rear.... I'm jumping to 36's shortly with plenty of room there, not so much in the front.... it'll be tight against the headers.
Depending on offset maybe it could face out.... I need to mess with it a bit more once I get time. at first try it didn't seem to work with a 18x9 et 25....
It works well and should take the weight of a 38 - you will need the 3 OEM mounting points for their plate. Fit and Finish isn't at ARB level and at least my rim wouldn't fit well facing outward... bolt-on also would've been more desirable then the spin on center mount.
Which rear tank plate is that ? have that up next on my list of things to solve for....
Lights are back to Baja's - a trio plus some Squads and Rigid's in a custom bracket I waterjetted - and a new Cali LEd bar that need to get wired up once the "dorkels" arrive and I can route the wires up one...
New rims/ tires are in the works - Black Rhino offers a "blank" for the Atlas( made in SC !!) so I was able to get an 18x9 Et 0 to fit a 315/70/18 Yoko 003 Mud tire on....that allows me to not have to run the H & R wheel spacers. Hope to have them all on Monday..
That's great to hear - I've always heard good things about how they balanced and QC on the Geo series... Stoked to get them on this week... How's your G treating you - Any mods or new things ?
Working on skid-plates at the shop over the weekend, and had a question on height from another G'er...
as it currently sits - 85" to the roof top - 88-ish" to the top edge of the pop-up for the Stealth Gobi rack... that'll increase about 3/4" maybe with the new tires, and maybe the light bar.

Love how the truck sits now. Really like the lights out front, that's on my list. Silver is also a good color for this car.
I park in a garage at home and work with a 7" clearance as well as airports and I barely make it. It's real close. I couldn't do a roof rack or roof lights for that reason, the G is a tall vehicle...
