G55 oil leak. Get it right and I値l Venmo you

Hey everyone,
Now that I have your attention .. I have a 2011 G55 with 94k on it. Bought it with 80k. I have fixed electrical issues here and there but I can稚 figure out this leak. It has been going on for over 1 year now and nothing is failing on the car. Oil level stays up and transmission oil level is also fine. Amount of leak is minimal but driving me nuts. Don稚 want a mechanic to replace a bunch of stuff in a ditch effort.
General consensus answer appreciated. First one to name it gets $50 via Venmo

Are those cracks in the metal running across the surface in your first photo?

I agree with this. Looks to be very damaged. Spray that area with brake cleaner and inspect to see if those are cracks. They are visible in many pics. The damage looks like some sort of Jack damage that pushed up on that area and started to crush it. What does it look like inside the little window if you take out those black square plugs?

On the contrary....I thought 50 was a nice offer for someone to look at a pic. I agree with the other guy that asked about cracks, but then realized that might be too obvious.
It's hellish chasing down an oil leak! GL to you

This place is a joke.
The rear main seal (plate) is leaking. The sealant on the plate hardens over time, a very common occurrence on any 112/113 engine. I've replaced hundreds. Those cracks are very concerning. When the transmission is removed to replace the plate, the transmission bell housing will also need to be replaced along with the metal gasket behind it.
Edit: I don't think those are cracks, looking closer I can see the same pattern following onto the lower oil pan. Wipe them with a rag and see if they disappear.

What does this job typically run ? Do you know what parts I would need to get? Tried to look for bell housing part number but no luck. Lastly what痴 your Venmo?

Definitely clean and inspect for the cracks (which could just be oil stains, then look in the window to see if it痴 the RMS. When I did my rms, it did not contribute much to oil loss.

The pattern looks like a tear. The pattern could also be caused by a cycle of leak, dry, leak, dry, leaving different margins. Within one minute you can diagnose this part.

I agree the rms appears to be the source of the leak, but those fissures are still concerning.

You would need the rear main seal, plate, MB black sealant,4 crush washers for the trans cooler lines on the bellhousing, 1 liter of ATF, and the red trans dipstick lock. Might as well replace the trans. electrical connector bushing (aka pilot bushing) while it's out too. On a car, dealers charge around $1200-$1800, maybe more these days, Independent shops as low as $600, but likely higher.... however on a G wagon the labor may be higher. It's basically an all-day job for most, although it can be done faster with experience. I wouldn't worry about the bellhousing yet, I think those are just stains. I am sending you a PM, not sure if you can open it since you are a new member.
