Aftermarket Recaro seats in G500

Hi, I just installed some Recaro Expert seats in my G500. They are a great fit and I no longer have back pain on longer drives. After installing however, I get an SRS warning on the dashboard. Is there a fix to disable that warning? Thank you!

PS: I ended up getting my seats, rails, and adapters from Dan @ 425 Motorsportshttp://www.425motorsports.com/

They look great

Check out post #52 here as it may be the same issue you're having.

https://clubgwagen.com/forum/viewtop...+mann&start=50

Can you post up specific model numbers for the seats and rails and any custom work involved? Lots of members are looking to swap seats as the older G seats aren't comfortable (as you know). Price range would also be nice to know.

Shiann, thanks for that link! I ordered the bit, hope that does it!

You should email Dan, he is very knowledgeable (made the Planted brackets for me), but here is my parts listing. It came out to about $4600 all told. I did no custom work myself - just an afternoon installing. My only recommendation would be to get a spacer kit as it may sit too low for smaller drivers. For 6’ driver its perfect. Easier to get in/out of the truck now as well.

I have Scheel-Mann seats in my 2001 G320 Cabrio but find they sit to high. I did a search on 425 website but could not find your planted seat rails that you purchased. I also have the SRS light on my dash and ordered the sensor from Airbag360, it’s been over two months and the part hasn’t arrived.

Yeah i am not sure you will see them on the website. You would have to email/call Dan, as he made these (had them made?) just for me. Well, i was the first one with G500 to order them…

Also apparently I didn’t order that airbag360 part. I got an email that it was sitting in my cart. I could have sworn I checked out. But sure enough, never got charged or an email. I guess, make sure you actually ordered it! Lol - good luck!

Were you able to address the SRS warning? Was it the result of the front passenger seat occupancy sensor? Or, what it caused by the front driver seat airbag?

Sorry

Sorry I should have updated this before. The linked airbag sensor shipped from Ireland and arrived in about a week. Fast shipping for me and easy to install. Two little bits to plug in. After plugging in, light went out on dash and things are great now. They both plugged in under the passenger seat and nothing was required from the driver side. Still super happy with this setup.

Sorry to hear you haven’t heard from Dan, hope he gets back to you. He was very quick on email for me, even before I ordered anything.

good luck!

I finally got a set of Recaro Expert M seats installed into my 2008 G55. HUGE improvement over the OE seats found in MYs 2008 and earlier. Total soak was around $4,500...seats were $2,600, sliders/brackets/risers were $935, passenger seat occupancy sensor bypass was $69, and install labor was around $920. PM me if you want further information. And thanks to @bokonon for the help.

As someone interested in doing this but worried about losing the side airbag (and potentially any other airbags that might not fire after modifying or tricking the SRS system), was that a concern of yours?

Can you give us a review of the difference from the factory seat? I have a 2011 and find the seats so uncomfortable. Adding to that the stiff, rough solid axle ride makes for a daily driver that isn’t always practical.

I would love more comfort, the ability to drive on road trips with ease, and a supportive yet softer overall experience

I have zero concerns regarding SRS issues. I have no SRS warning lights or faults post-installation. The only seat-related SRS connection is the one related to the passenger seat and the Airbag360 bypass solves that problem. The link is above, but I will post it again here:

https://airbag360.com/mercedes-g-cla...pass-439-p.asp

Regarding comfort, I always thought that the MY 2009+ seats are much more comfortable than the older MYs. But maybe they are equally uncomfortable? The bottom cushion on the Recaro Expert M seats are softer and longer (providing more leg support) than the OE seats. They can also be installed in a manner that will provide more legroom. The backrest/cushion provides a TON more lateral support with the (manually) adjustable side bolsters. So yea, the downsides are that the Recaro Expert Ms are fully manual and NOT heated.

Just "seconding the motion" about this bargain of a deal! For reference sake, I just saw a pair (non Designo) for $1.4K at Exotic Salvage.
