Buying 2017 G63, need help with headunit

Buying a 2017 G63 that has some modifications done to it. The dealer bought it at auction and they know nothing about it and can't help me figure anything out. I look at the headunit and it's clearly aftermarket. IMO it doesn't look very good. It has absolutely no identifying features on it physically. I think if you go through the software menus you might eventually find the manufacturer but the dealership doesn't know what they're doing and just shrugged their shoulders.

Can anyone decipher what brand this headunit might be? It looks like the DMP Car Design one that is often recommended here, but instead of running CarPlay it's just running a stretched-out version of the OEM Mercedes system. I am certainly hoping that this is a headunit that can just run CarPlay if I hook my phone up because I certainly do not want a headunit that only shows a stretched-out poor quality version of the Mercedes software.

No more MB:(
Have you looked into adding an OEM unit? That's probably the best solution, otherwise you'll be dealing with this ongoing.

It likely has CarPlay features if connected. Have the salesmen try to connect to it via wireless or wired.

All of these Android units are pretty much the same regardless of where you are buying them from. They all have tweaks in the sottware, but they all run an Android operrating system. Check out this link below - it explains how one of the options is to see the original NTG screen and the setting to get the right config to see the screen properly. My guess is that its just set wrong and why it looks stretched out. I think pretty much all of these can do Carplay or the Andriod version. Before moving onto a W463a, I had a 2017 G63 and did this exact upgrade though before trading in I put it back to stock!

just an update, i have the car now. it is indeed a DMP headunit. i am stuck at the issue in the video above, though. it asks for a passcode to go into that admin menu, and i don't have a passcode. i don't know where it was bought from and no idea how to get the passcode.

i have it all working again for the most part but it's finicky. the android skin doesn't really work at all, but it mostly works through the NTG native setup. bluetooth audio is not great. when i get a phone call it reverts back to the android skin briefly. but in general it works, it's just a stretched out version of the OEM mercedes unit.

Try password 190627. This was the default on my unit.

Also, you can reach out to DMP via WhatsApp or Facebook and they should help you

Thanks. I'm making do with the current setup which is not too bad. Just a stretched out oversized native Mercedes skin on the headunit.

I can't get Android Auto working which seems odd. I ran my car through a VIN decoder and it 100% has "EV4 SMARTPHONE INTEGRATION GOOGLE AUTOMOTIVE LINK" listed. But I can't find it anywhere in the menu. I had no problem getting it to work on my previous 2018 GLE63 but I can't find it on this 2017 G63.
