G55 Wheels

Anyone have any experience with wheels similar to these?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/25617378695...cAAOSwnh5cVLmZ

I really like the oem wheel look. Kind of weary on these considering they are priced pretty cheap.

Any info is appreciated!

they're cast and likely high 40 lb range ..... for a 22 that's going to make it venerable with thin sidewall....NOLA isn't noted for it's fine roads ! Just drove thru running the E63 back from Va to TX this weekend....

Yes they certainly are not lol!

Luckily this is not my daily.

I currently have a set of 24's that came with the truck when I purchased. I desperately need to get them off as the ride is absolutely terrible!

What do you mean by high 40s?

40lbs or so ..... if you haven't swapped out shocks it'll be a godawful ride.... I test drove a 11' G55 on fake Brabus 22's and it was horrible on Texas streets...

Yeah thats all on the list. Going to start on this in January or so when work slows a bit.

I have put under 2000 miles on the car since I purchased in August of 2022.

Its currently on 24s, coil spacers that appear to be 20mm or so, and stock springs and shocks as far as I can tell.

The ride is terribly uncomfortable at the moment.

G63
Let me know if you @selenite_C63s do this wheel swap. Been looking at similar style 22's for dedicated summer tires. I have the original AMG 20's on my G63 with NItto Ridge Grapplers for my winter setup.

Multiple
A car from 1979 is always going to be a bad ride. Humanity has come a long way in the realm of ride quality since the G was designed no matter how much factory restomod the particular model has, just saying.

Also, 22s is still mall-rated.

I don't get the no sidewall idea for a 3 ton vehicle..... if you really want handling then widen the track and put 325's in an 18" or max 20" on and some decent shocks.... my 55 with it's track widened by 5" overall even lifted is almost huckable into most corners.... our G63 we ran same width but 305's and mild 40mm spring spacers and it was even better ( and faster with the e40 tune....)

I definitely hear what your saying.

Personally, I just don't like the appearance of a 18" wheel. I could live with 20" wheels, but it would not be my preference.

If the ride does not improve after the new set up than its all good.

I was more or less wondering about the rims and if anyone had used similar replica wheels in the past.

I was wanting to avoid spending $6k+ for a set of oem wheels on a vehicle I usually drive once or twice per week

Understood - it's all a matter of what ya' like.... 20's are viable - I ran a custom offset Forgestar F14's on my G63- reasonably priced at about 2800 for a set of 5 20x10.5 et 25 semi-forged.... and they were about 25lbs ! they held up really well on our trip to Moab / Ouray offroad and ran well at speeds running back to TX..
