I have 6 OBD code readers, and IMO the best one for the money is the Launch Elite 2.0 Benz that Amazon has for $150.

I keep asking the forum administrators to add a forum section on OBD readers, but so far they have no interest in this topic.

I have used "OBDLink MX+" for a few years and quite happy with it. It comes with its own app for iphone/android and also pulls freeze frame data which can be very valuable. I used it on the G63 a few months ago when I got a turbo underboost code and it successfully helped me diagnose a leak in a vac line which I fixed and cleared the code.

Yes -- I have the OBDLink CX in my collection, and it works with a variety of generic and vehicle specific smartphone apps. Using it and Bimmercode, I coded off the auto start/stop on my X7, and using it and OBDJscan, I added a backup camera to my '16 Rubicon JK. There's no MB specific app that I'm aware of for the OBDLink devices, but the generic app should read and reset codes if that's your objective. The Launch scanner is capable of coding several MB specific functions including shutting off the auto start/stop and disabling lane departure (search the forum for more info). As I recall the OBDLink devices are about $75 to $125, and are compact so they easily store in your glove box.

I have used iCarsoft MB on my c class. Worked great. I have not tried it in the G yet

Alot of the generic readers don't work for the W463 G63 for some reason. I have had OK luck with the AUTEL 808 but many things it cannot do which I wish it could.
