2013 G550 - DIY Alternator replacement feasible?

Hi folks, I have a well equipped garage and plenty of hands on experience, though not much with the G Wagen. The red battery icon came on two days ago. The battery was replaced a few years ago and I believe it holds a charge (confirming now) so I suspect a bad alternator. I'm wondering if this is a DIY-capable job without a lift? Unfortunately, I can't find much on alternator replacement but I'm guessing from the newer models that it's similarly located underneath the vehicle.

Any pointers or guides would be welcome. This is our daily driver so if I can't get it sorted today, I'll be shelling out some $$$ at the dealer this week.

Built 2008 G55 & one big 80 Series LandCruiser !
I'd start with a fresh battery... not sure of your locale but in TX G's rarely last 2 years on a battery... at least speaking for my 63 and 55... far more likely to be that the an alt unless you've had flooding or really high miles -IMHO.....
keep us posted.

The battery charged up perfectly in a couple of hours with a trickle charger, so I doubt it's that.

And the red battery icon is still lit? Have you scanned the OBD for fault codes?

Before going too far down the path of the alternator....it's easy to check. Using a volt meter, it should be putting out 14.7v while running if it's working .

I use this little lighter plug to keep an eye on my charging condition on one of my older Porsches. Works great.
