Agreed on the music and Bluetooth aspect. In particular I was looking at an 03 with 72k on it. As I only drive 10k a year and also have an S550. Thought it may be a fun way to go

If you're open to the terrible gas mileage and understand all the tradeoff's you'll be making having the G (vs any other more modern SUV), I say it's a great idea.
I would consider a 2005-2006 as a lot of the computer modules were figured out by then, and you don't have the weird electrical issues occur with the 2002's. (Transfer case module updated for 2005). 2007-2011 introduced a lot of features like Bi-Xenon headlights, better fog lights, upgraded stereos, etc, but those are all features that break over time.
Also, 2005 comes with curtain airbags, rear ISOFIX.
We've had our 2005 G55k for almost 5 years now and have averaged ~13k miles/year.

G55 has long been a vehicle I've wanted to DD. Currently have a 911 Turbo and 4Runner and thinking the G would be a nice upgrade as the 4Runner just crossed 205k miles. Seems this forum has loads of content to keep them running a long time, although owning a older German vehicle does come with a higher price tag than my Toyota!
