See www.mbenznl.com ... you need a TV tuner to be able to view television as well as external video sources, or a video adapter alone for just video sources. The video must be activated in your COMAND with a Star Diagnosis. All of this is available from MBenzNL and at various locations in the US and other countries.

Yeah we know, they sent it back to you and you installed it, and then they came out and took pictures of your car. I think you wrote that elsewhere.

What did they do to your car? Did they turn on the TV button and install a video adaptor or did they also install a TV tuner.?? I heard steve does versa coding for $75.00. Scorchie, does steve have a video adaptor for our commands. The last I heard, he had developed it but didn't work that great so he X'ed the product.

How does it work? I called them up yesterday and they want $800.00 for activating my TV button, Video adaptor/TV tuner and DVD player. Thats with installation. I am still debating but I just want to know how it works and if its worth it. Please inform.

Notice how he called it "Nav-TV"?
Because we're the first, and the best.
Nav-TV's product will give you the option of having video up front, with or without a tv tuner... Plug-and-Play- and there's no more worrying about the blank button. The programmer is INCLUDED.
No more STAR Diognostic.

If you want TV in your car I see no reason not to go stock and use the MB tuner. It really does work well.

Yes you are correct but sometimes Steve doesn't have them in stock so the Nav-TV is a great alternative....

I guess that makes sense.........if you want to sacrafice quality for a few weeks. I'd wait for Steve, but you can get them from other sources. At the very least they are on German eBay all the time.

............the mb tv tuner is also more expensive and for bulky for the uninitiated. TV reception while in motion is generally poor for both MB Tv tuner and other aftermarket TV tuners. Plus some folks want video input to the Comand but not neccessarily TV input. Finally, video the quality of the already available Av adapters is quite good, I don't think it is inferior. Having said all this, I have an Mb TV tuner.

Ted, (or anybody else that can educate me)
I'm kinda in that boat, where I want video, but not necessarily TV function in the car. Also the MB tuner is quite expensive for a function I don't really want. So.... Are these NTSC adapters readily available (Radio Shack, Frye's electronics, etc)? Do you know if the Euro COMAND is only PAL based, as I plan on retrofitting sometime? Any suggestions on a good NTSC adapter?

I could probably accept the PAL adapter for DVD, but in the event a PS2 finds its way in the car then I think I'd prefer a NTSC adapter.

Thanks for any info.

................you can get these from from Scvorchie or steve. Earlier versions were PAL only and you had to get a PAL/NTSC DVD player. One trick was to get a PAL/NTSC DVd player with an A/V input and run your PS2 through the DVD player to the Comand. I do not know about the availability of the NTSC adapters, but Scorchie will know.
