There is a good chance if the customer can afford a $150K-$200K truck they are a great potential future customer if you treat them well now.
Not likely on a G 63 and not at a big dealership. Unless that new customer is a celebrity of some kind. G 63 demand isn't the same in every market. It is especially high on the West Coast and parts of the East Coast. Demand is lower in the middle of the country and in non urban markets so an MSRP purchase is more likely there.

Right, possibly get lucky with a small market dealer. Otherwise major market, highly, highly, unlikely.

Anyone know of a dealer I can place an order for one at or close to MSRP? I'm in Houston.

Talked to my dealer today, they just sold a G550 at 25K over. Maybe a fluke or maybe a sign of things to come for 2021. Could also be a 179 write off. We'll see.

Wow. I went to a local dealer to pick up a cargo mat I ordered. They had a black G550 on the lot--just looked it up. 2020 with 4900 miles listed for $160k. Maybe the market is showing no signs of slowing down.

Love the comparison w Rolex

The big difference is that Rolex dealers are selling to flippers which created a gray market. I waited for more than a year for the Rolex Hulk, never got and was discontinued, prices of used sky rocketed.
I will never buy a used watch w a questionable warranty and pay double msrp. MB dealers are selling above MSRP since there is a huge demand but UR still buying from a dealer w full warranty.
You can get a discount on Lambo Urus and RR Cullinan but most have to pay over MSRP or wait to build a G. There is also a developing " grey market" by other high end car dealers who buy G63 just to sell and make a profit.

Right. Rolex AD's don't mark up their watches. Some go to flippers, some grey and some actual consumers. There are however some Rolex grey's that will sell BNIB with full fresh warranty. I picked one up this way.

G63's are essentially sold at grey prices from the dealership unless you put in the work, order one and wait. OR as others have stated get super lucky.

There’s a lot of 2021 G63 for sale at non Mercedes dealers with under 150 miles and prices in Urus territory. Almost has become like the 116500.

100%. My question, is this the new world of luxury? There was a time you walked into a Rolex AD and expected a discount (and got one), and this was not too long ago. Then the 116500 was released and now Rolex will never go back to that world again, manage supply chain, prop up values, and the grey market is actually a good thing for the brand.

Now with covid affecting supply chains, dealer inventory is challenged in many places so less discounting. Do we go back to the way it was? My dealer got in a GLS Maybach and sold it to a ball player for 60K OVER! Fluke or sign of things to come? They told me the other day that they are not discounting at all right now "maybe 1K or so but that's it". Luxury market is strong.

A gaggle of MB's
I like this example "I bought my Daytona 7 percent off 10 years ago" - because every "classic" Rolex in my mini-collection would sell at Over-Today's-MSRP easy..and when you are talking 2-3-4-5--10-15yr old Rolex's - my my choice to have few more than a clutch - which means means each of my Rolex's is well cared for with "low miles". I shopped well - did not pay over MSRP and I was patient for delivery in some cases - didn't waste my time on shopping for "Rolex discount".

If you don't pay ADM on a G - and frankly due to the Export Shopper's it does get to be a pain shopping at MSRP - if the G-Wagen market stays strong at this level - you can easily plan to get a new G every 2yrs without breaking a sweat.. once you are inside-the-circle with a particular dealer at MSRP - it's all smooth down the road....

Yes, the economy will only stay strong for so long. Also, unless MBUSA is asleep at the switch, they will aggressively raise the MSRP to capture some of that willingness to pay more for themselves, rather than having the dealers capture it all as ADM. Graz is undoubtedly looking for ways to squeeze out a few hundred more... nobody wants to let a great market go to waste.

I agree. I have never paid over MSRP for my Rolex watches. It might take a little more effort to find the "hot" models but they can be purchased at MSRP.

10 yrs ago. The Hulk was not very popular and stayed in windows for months, selling w discounts. When rumored to be discontinued, it became so popular. Same for Toyota FJC last edition and Lotus Elise. Low miles ones are selling 25k over MSRP sinc new are no longer available.

Is this speculation or did you see something that indicates this is happening?

Speculation...Mercedes has been under pressure to improve profitability, and the only way they make more on the G is by selling a higher volume or raising the price. They get none of the ADM. Pricing is something they can’t do much with except on an annual basis, so cranking out more is the lever they than pull in a the short term. Of course in the Covid world, Magna has to work harder to keep their supply chain going and their employees healthy to make this happen.

They had two significant increases for 2020 and thankfully didn’t increase the 2021 a dime in the US. I wonder if they will increase a decent amount for 2022.

I don’t think they would increase capacity. I’m sure the factory is running at a good clip to produce vehicles safely and without compromising quality.

Also, interested.

I’m in FL. Are there out of state dealers that would sell to me (place me on waitlist) at MSRP? Or am I limited to in-state dealers?

Can anyone suggest a Florida or an out of state dealer?

thanks in advance.

FWIW, I’ve got a luke warm relationship with my local dealer. Purchased a couple of $150K cars in the last few years @ Full MSRP. Called right after Xmas about 2021 G63 they said 50K over and they could get it to me for the end of April. I asked why would I want to wait till April if I’ve gotta pay 50k over. The luxury goods market is strong . Nobody likes it! The dealer told me my neighbor has seven purchases and he’s paying over. Fletcher Jones had the perfect spec and my new Gwag will be here Wednesday. I’m in Louisiana, I think I’d try St. Louis or Oklahoma and just be patient someone’s getting them @ MSRP. Best of luck 🤞

No it's not. Although I doubt that will stop anyone from taking a deposit.
