The lane assist is the absolute worst function Ive ever seen on any car with this type of safety feature.
agree. horrible implementation. Shameful compared to my daughters Mazda which works better and less intrusively. Thrilled auto stop is gone so now I just have to turn off the ridiculous lane assist when I get in the car.
Anybody with a 2023 G63 wagon who has had prior 2019-22 G63? Wondering if any noticeable differences in motor or exhaust.

Does lack of this button mean the start/stop function is always disabled (as in no longer present)? My 2019 G550 has the button, but it has never functioned to disable start/stop. Those of you who always shift out of comfort mode into sport mode (which disables start/stop) should check to see if start/stop is still present in comfort mode. BMW eliminated this button on some of its cars when its "mild hybrid" system became standard. Apparently on its cars the mild hybrid system needs to shut off the engine to have its optimum fuel savings effect.
But if it's really kaput for good, this is great news. I always considered it a safety hazard in addition to being an annoyance.
Once you start the car and go to a stop light and push hard on the brake nothing happens. The two ways I know to turn it off don’t exist—blank button as pictured and the Amg steering wheel controls don’t allow it to be selected.
@Hodog16 do you recall if you come to a stop and tap a bit harder on the brake if the brake hold still exists. I used to love this feature that holds the car stopped until you press the accelerator again? I think the screen display also says hold if you do this.
On my 2021 it worked and I loved it. I used to come to a complete stop and then pump the brake with a little force. The car would then say hold on the main display. You could leave the brake and just relax the feet until the green light and a tap of the accelerator got it going. I am hoping it’s still there on the 2023…

I would be confused for their decision to remove it for the 2023 to be honest, it can't have anything to do with chip shortage right? I mean, all it does is that you put a line of code that states if brake is depressed harder then do this, or am I missing something?

Tons of electronics behind the auto stop start including multiple controllers and engine and battery sensors and switches and a whole additional Auxiliary battery, brake hold on the other hand is much simpler and is done with software since the brake control circuits are built into the Distronic plus and pre-safe electronics modules.

Sorry for the confusion, my post was precisely talking about brake-hold and brake-hold only, I am more than glad Auto start-stop is gone, actually.
I think because the guy in the vid is driving a Euro spec one and their regulations are stricter than here in NA. Also the Euro spec AMG's are all a little bit more muted than their NA counterparts because of the mandatory OPF in Europe.

I haven't been able to find any confirmation that MY23 G's are equipped with mild hybrid tech, but I suspect they are, as are several other MB vehicles (this might also explain MB's sales suspension of V8s in 2021). Mild hybrid integrates a starter/motor/generator into the transmission. This starts the engine, accelerates the vehicle and charges the battery that powers the start/motor functions when braking. Vehicles equipped with MH don't have ECO Start/Stop disable because it''s always enabled. The motor that starts the engine and simultaneously accelerates the vehicle from a standstill makes the ECO Start/Stop seamless and imperceptible. There's no latency or jerking that occurs because the motor is immediately responsive just as with an EV. Even MB is somewhat cagey about disclosing anything on its website about the G and MH. Anyone know for sure?
As a MY ‘23 G550 USA owner, I can say it does not have MH capability and it does not have auto start stop capability. It is just a TT V8 connected to a 9 speed transmission.

Thanks for confirming this. MBUSA's website still shows the "A" encompassed with the arrow next to the ignition button in the '23 G-Class gallery. It's hard to sort out fact from fiction when such inaccuracies appear.
