Picked up a 2024 G63 today
Funny how things work--I was planning on having a nice, boring weekend and then my salesperson at the local dealer sends me a text to say they have a 2024 G63 on the lot where the buyer could not secure financing. They wanted to see if I wanted to upgrade and promised this would not affect my place in line for a 2025.
I have a 2023 with 7000 miles that I was planning on keeping until trading for a 2025.
2023 spec is olive/saddle with carbon fiber and suede steering wheel and monoblocks. MSRP was $207,500.
2024 spec is olive with night package plus, carbon fiber and suede steering wheel, 22" cross spokes and black leather with yacht blue stitching (interesting choice but it actually works). MSRP $212,000 (MB raised 2024 base MSRP by $4,000 so the build isn't that much different).
Extras in the 2024 include all weather mats (which I use Tuxmat for anyway), G logo package (so the door push buttons have a G on it) and leather grab handle.
Ended up paying $11,000 difference:
$4500 delta between 2023 and 2024 MSRP
$4500 depreciation on 2023 trade in value
$2000 miscellaneous (doc fee, tax, nitrogen/tint/etc-dealer does not charge ADM but corporate forces add-ons)
My rationalization is that I should get some or a lot of the $11,000 back when I trade a 2024 with say 3,500 miles in the Fall versus a 2023 with over 10,000 miles. Plus now I don't have to get an oil change next month any more lol.
I'm usually not a night package plus fan but it works with the olive. I'll miss the monoblocks and saddle leather but I'll get both back in 2025.

Congrats! Can't see why they wouldn't but sure hope for my sake the monoblocks/China blue/saddle brown leather return for 2025.

Looks great! Congrats. I'm a monoblock fan myself. Looking forward to the update in 12 months!

Sounds like a great deal for you. Wondering why the dealer would rather have an "almost new" '23 on his lot than an "off the truck new" '24 that he could mark up substantially. Is the market cooling with high financing rates?

Thanks everybody--it's funny I posted this on a few other places and a lot of people were wondering why bother, but I knew my people on this board would understand lol.
Good question--dealer isn't allowed to sell new cars out of state and has to sell at MSRP + $1000 of add ons. Used cars they can sell to anybody and for any price.
Salesperson said he had a few others he could call but preferred I take it since I had the trade-in, and I'm a repeat customer as I bought my 2022 from them.

Great move by you! But still odd why they wouldnt just sell that car to other repeat customers for markup within their state... fully understand the repeat customer stuff but they left alot of money on the table... great deal for you but odd transaction for dealer unless market in your region is cooling... something didnt add up. Unless you took more of a depreciation hit then you needed...
that said, nice move... what region are they in?

The SA probably saw more money in the trade deal. And possibly faster transaction with known creditworthiness on the new unit.

Yeah NC is good for avoiding ADM in general. There are a few different car groups (Hendrick, Leith, Johnson) that cannot sell new cars with empty ADMs but can add on like tint etc which normally is annoying on a Honda but not big deal on a G.
Ironically the worse dealers here are Kia’s.
Yeah they cannot retail the new car with ADM so that’s why they called me lol.

Another cancelled order why not try white this time. Everybody else on the list is waiting for a 2025, so since I have a 2024 G for trade-in they let me take it without affecting my position.

Lol thanks, yup it's yacht blue. Pretty cool looking in person although I wager it's not a super popular interior color.
Yes started the year with a green 2023 I bought last March then had the green 24 and now the white 24. Thinking by the end of the year I'll have an arabian grey 25 .
