I just replaced the sunroof seal on my 2003 G500. Now the sunroof won't close all the way, preventing the rear of the sunroof from sitting flush with the roof.
1. Installation matched the original seal (seams towards back, part numbers facing down) 2. I've ensured that the seal is fully seated and flush 3. Used silicon-based lube on the rear of the seal in case friction was causing the rear to catch on the seal (not the issue) 4. Replaced with the old seal, sunroof still not closing all the way. 5. Tried to "recalibrate" the sunroof by holding it open for 10+ seconds / open, close, open, hold for 10+ seconds. 6. Removal of the seal allows the sunroof to close fully. (see attachments)
Any tips or ideas? I cannot find a similar issue when searching across a variety of forums. Here is a link to see the new seal installed:
