2015 G550 Rusting out completely
Here are the pictures of my 2015 G550, I purchased new in 2015. The car is located in Missouri. NO exposure to salt, well maybe a little in the winter. But we only get snow about twice a year. NO, it's never been in a Flood. NO, it's never been off-roading. Always serviced at dealer, runs perfect. Never been wrecked. It's my daily car back and forth to work. Never abused.
But it's RUSTING OUT COMPLETELY AFTER ONLY 8 YEARS. I honestly can't believe a modern car, yet along a Mercedes would have such an issue.
Has anyone had this issue? Has anyone tried to work with MB on something like this? THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN.
From the pictures, you'll see the only door that is not Rusting out is the Front Passenger Door. Everything else is a mess.
Here's the car.
Driver's Door Rust
Driver's Side Back Door
Driver's Side Back Door - So, bad it's coming through exterior paint
Outside near gas cap
Inside the gas cap
Passenger-side rear door

I would suggest you find your owners manual and see what the corrosion/ perforation warranty is. I thought around 8 years but you really need to check asap, and contact Mercedes asap, no waiting. As an original owner you will have a better chance at a goodwill repair.
Based on the pics, it’s very clearly a manufacturer defect.
editing because it looks in the US for that year it was 4 years, 50k miles. Rust is the one big thing from an older G that keeps me away, but I also don’t see the value of a newer model.

Normal for the pre 2019 G-class with 1970’s metallurgy technology. I noticed rust starting under the windshield seal within 2-3 years on those cars. Have not seen any rust on any of the newer G-class though so it looks like Mercedes has finally solved this issues.
