I'm shocked that they even implemented this since it seems prone to accidents and even more shocked regulators approved such a design...
When I picked up my G a couple years ago, the dealer tech-geek was entirely preoccupied with smartphone pairing -- never said a word about the LKA "feature" or how to disable it. Twenty minutes later, I'm driving down a street and I cross the centerline slightly to yield to a couple of bicyclists riding abreast. LKA violently kicked me back into the lane and I almost took out both cyclists. Scared the crap out of me, and the cyclists flipped me off (and rightfully so). Hence my hatred for LKA.

IMO, MB is using us as guinea pigs to see how the system gets used, and making it default to the active state improves its use probability. I wouldn't be surprised if MB can upload data and video for every LKA event. All the car manufacturers have much work left to do getting to Stage 6 fully automated vehicles.

Had these mods programmed on my G63!
1. Disabled ECO start/stop
2. Active Lane Assist only vibrates now. No jerking.
3. AMG exhaust flaps stay open.
4. Starts up in any Dynamic mode you choose.
5. Lane changing flashes 5 times instead of 3 times.
