LeTech tire holder

LeTech tire holder
Finally got my LeTech tire holder. Similar to the ones in the 4x4 squared same company makes that and the roof rack along with other cool parts.
I will be installing this Thursday and since there’s no instruction manual I will document everything I did you guys to see in the future.
If you want one I bought it from Gwagenparts.com
This have to be screwed in the door hinges 😬
This is how the tire will mount in the tire holder.
This is the new part that goes in the old mounting point.

First you have to remove the part that attaches to the door hinges.
Then line up this so that you can mark up the holes.
Drill time! 😱
Nice work
Then attach the main part of the tire holder that grabs the hinges.
Looks like this
Some Minor adjustments to line up both parts. Sometimes we had to put the tire on to try it with the weight on.
Finished!

I love the look! Nice work with the clean install! The BF Goodrich tires look great. Any issues with the rubbing with 275/55/20? Did you have to raise the truck at all or is it otherwise all stock? I have the same wheels and a 2020 G550. Thanks for the info.

Thanks! The BFG are on size taller than stock that’s why I added the tire holder. The 275/55-22 do not rub under any circumstance. They are a little taller than stock so the Speedo reads a little less 4mph. I love the look.

Ditto that - I shed the sub-size donut spare that MB slipped many of us under the OE spare cover and bought a 5th tire to match the 4 Geolandars that I mounted in place of the OE Pirelli's. I bought an after market cover from Boomerang. Not as classy as the LeTech, but it does the job. (I posted pics of the Boomerang cover at https://mbworld.org/forums/g-class-w...ire-cover.html

Hey great thread thanks for posting! Yes LeTech does not mess around with over-engineering. I installed the LeTech roof rack on my '20 and I think it uses up about 60% of Mercedes' recommended roof load limit before you've put anything on it LOL.
Similar to your experience, mine finish has held up great for the year + it's been on the truck.

That's a great rack for sure. How's the wind noise? Is the platform metal? Any interference with the rooftop Nav antenna?

Wind noise was certainly noticeable but I now tune it out. I also think I detect slightly more sway in corners, but again, I now adjust for that mentally. Yes the platform is Aluminum diamond plate, the rest is steel tube. I didn't know we had a Nav antenna but no interference I've noticed. It does cover about 1/2 of sunroof opening.
