Thanks for sharing your experience with this new product. How much did it cost to get it installed on your vehicle?
I am thinking about getting one of these products myself. Thanks!

Another time, a rock hit the same windshield (seemed very similar to the first rock hit), but this time the windshield cracked. So, my personal experience is 50-50. But, for $400 or so for Exoshield, it was worth it to me just to avoid the hassle of replacing a cracked windshield even if it only works half the time BTW, I traded my 2020 G 63 for a 2024 G 63, but this time I could not find an Exoshield installer (not sure why). I ended up having a similar protective film (Ultrafit) installed. The installer said his other clients have had good luck with this film. I haven't had any rock hits (yet), so hopefully he's right FYI, Exoshield seems to be a thicker film, so I'd prefer it if given a choice. One last thing. I'm major OCD, and I have always been reluctant to put any kind of protective film on the windshield of any of my cars because I was concerned about distortion. I have used ClearPlex, Exoshield and Ultrafit and I have never noticed even the slightest distortion. One more last thing It's my understanding that Xpel (I've been using their paint protective film for years, and I've been very satisfied) recently introduced windshield protective film. I haven't had a chance to pursue this new film, but it might be worth considering

I also put a film on my windsheild. I have 50k highway miles on my 2020 G63 which goes from NJ to VT weekly - all winter long. 80mph. Maybe I am lucky but stones have never damaged my windshield. I changed the film every 2 years or so.

Does anyone have a windshield film installer to recommend in the LA area?

While insurance is nice, I would prefer to avoid pulling the glass annually / semi-annually.

I'm planning on getting XPEL done for the windshield. Would you guys still recommend getting Windshield insurance from the dealership?

the dealer wanted $500 for windshield insurance. I have a $100 comprehensive with my insurance company. I had my windshield replaced on my 21G 63. I haven’t had to replace my windshield on my 24 or 25 G 63. Glass alone was $2800.

Sorry not insurance. But more like Windshield replacement warranty. Like tire and wheel. I think it was like $2800. I guess skip and just use my insurance?

I’d keep your insurance. Everything they sell at the dealership is overpriced.

Hi. I checked Xpel's website, and there are quite a few installers in the LA area. I've used Xpel protective paint film on a lot of my cars, so I'm looking forward to trying their windshield protective film on my 2024 G 63.

Quick update. My G63 took two rocks to the windshield yesterday at about 75mph resulting in zero damage to the glass thanks to XPEL windshield protection film. The rocks did knick the film a small amount but barely noticeable. It was more than worth the "investment".

Ugh, the 19+ G63 windshields are ridiculously fragile way worse than the older gens. A few guys run ExoShield or Pinnacle windshield protection film. It’s not bulletproof, but helps against small chips. Some also swear by Gorilla Glass replacement windshields (thicker, more impact-resistant). Adjusting your following distance helps, but honestly, it’s just a flawed design. A few owners even run a subtle hood deflector to change the airflow.

I have Clearplex on mine. Had it on for 2yrs. It has done a terrific job but has weathered. Didn't know it would do that or if all ppf does. Pictures attached. Anyway, going to try Xpel. $450 for replacement.

Hmmmm! I've had Clearplex on my Ferrari for 10 years, and it still looks brand new. In fairness, the car is garaged and it only has 7,000 miles. I had Exoshield windshield protective film on my 2020 G 63 for four years and 50,000 miles and it looked almost brand new. I have Ultrafit windshield protective film on my 2024 G 63 for 1-1/2 years and 20,000 miles, and it has some signs of wear (a handful of small marfs from small rock hits). But, nothing like the wear on your protective film.

BTW, I'm going to try Xpel windshield film next time. I've always had good luck with Xpel paint protective film, and I keep reading good things about their windshield film.

Anyone have experience with Windshield Skin? I was going to go to another shop after my G63 is PPF'd for XPEL windshield protection, but the shop is offering this because they've been delayed finishing the PPF on my truck. I guess it's free. So I'll try it. If it sucks and have optical clarity issues, I will replace it for XPEL.

I have this on my 2024 G63 and the windshield is perfect after many road trips. I cracked a drivers side hood blinker and have taken on rock chips on my grill guard. So rocks flying all around but no cracked windshield.
