Delivery Dates for 2021 G550 to US

I'm still trying to find out delivery dates for the US. How long is it taking from ordering at the dealer to picking up your vehicle? Is it really taking a year to get the G550? I checked with my salesman and he says he does not yet have any information about my order. It's been two (2) months since I placed the oder. There is nothing about turn around time on the internet. Thanks

If the dealer can't provide delivery date info, he probably hasn't been told what his allocation will be. My experience 2 years ago was the dealer knew in June he was getting a 2019 G550 in October. If that vehicle had been sold, he might not have had a date in June for his next allocation. Ask your dealer what his existing known allocations are and when they're scheduled. This might give you some idea of what to expect. Meanwhile, take comfort in knowing this uncertainty is all part of the G-wagon mystique. If you can't wait, and don't need a custom build, shop around but be ready to pay over MSRP.

I ordered a G550 in November and the dealer says to expect it in early June.

Impossible to predict as its dealer dependent.

They should know when they are getting allocations because it’s the same as last year.

One dealer may be a year another four months, if the guy can’t tell you then it’ll be awhile. My advice is to find a dealer who is more upfront.

Also, Mercedes hasn't been consistent with the allocations.

A gaggle of MB's
Mercedes has been Very Consistent in Allocations - it just Dealer's are getting "Dinged"/Reduced due to sold units that were Exported - quite a few - especially Dealer's who are "Chasing the G-Pipe" congratulating themselves on the Market Adjustment Profit - when really they should have looked more closely at that customer/Export-potential.

Mercedes Ding's/Reduces two for 2021 and into 2022 for each export report.

Hate to disagree but allocations are down across the board, not just for the G.
In our market all the big dealers are without cars.

Good Afternoon, I work in Maine and we have a brand new G63 available for sale today. Would you like some information about it? I can send MSRP and pictures.

The one allocation we got this month has production for early September and that is down from 3 allocations/month. Still 2021 model.

Wondering if all these S Classes sitting at port for months are on trickle chargers? I know there is a storage mode for long periods of non use, but still...

As others have stated delivery times are specific to each dealer. However, if your dealer doesn't know what month or "decade" your build is scheduled for that means they don't have allocation yet. In my case I ordered my G550 in January with a February allocation. Build was completed on 2/26. Arrived at port 4 weeks later and I took delivery in early May due to the VPC stop sale delay. In hindsight I think I got really lucky on timing since it seems most dealers had their allocations cut due to chip shortages, etc...

Mine was ordered last October as a February production. Was built around February 25, and was at Halifax VPC for March 26th. There was an outstanding campaign on the vehicle and I did not take delivery until around May 4th or 5th.

Checking back with you! Did you receive your G550 as promised? If not what’s the new delivery date?

I ordered a G550 in Jan and originally was quoted 5-6 months, now Im now being told August build date with Sept delivery guaranteed so I must have gotten an allocation date ... 2021 but who cares, there's no significant change between 2021 and 2022. Based on used car market, Im not worried about excess depreciation being only a 2021 model when the 22's show up 3 months later.

The Carfax report I received 2 days ago on my '19 G550 (9500 miles) states that its curent trade-in value is $12K more than its MSRP window sticker. These trucks don't seem to follow conventional depreciation rules.

The fist wave of vehicles are being shipped to dealers starting today. Within 2 weeks, there will be a flood of 2021 S-Class cars out there.

Hopefully everyone can relax a bit now. I think the wait will have been well worth it.

Does anyone knows if 21 inch wheels have all seasons or summer tires?

All season and summer tires are about the same IMO. If your user name reflects your venue, I'd shop around for some winter-rated ("mountain/snowflake") rated tires if you plan to run them year-round. Otherwise a second set of wheels and tires specifically rated "snow" are in order. "All season" (even with the "M+S" imprint) will not get you through a New England winter.

My 21's came with summer tires - Michelin Latitude Cross. It has M+S on the sidewall. I'm in NC so it ran fine over the last winter but I didn't see any snow.

I thought the G550 only had 20" wheels as an option? Those are "all season" ... I used to live and commute in the Boston area for many years before I moved to FL, all seasons are fine in a 4wd vehicle IMHO. Snow tires are overrated unless you live or commute in Worcester or NH.

The G63 21s are summer only unless you get the trail package, those are all season.

Mercedes also sells snow tires already mounted on rims if you dont want to get something aftermarket:
21-inch, AMG 5-twin-spoke wheel, Matte Black Inserts
285/45 R21 113V XL CONTINENTAL WINTERCONTACT TS 850P
MSRP: $1,139.00
Part #BQ8402833 Front and Rear Axle
(This is for the G63)
