Just ordered a new G550

I’m super excited to order a brand new G550. We are hoping it will be a 2022 model when it gets built, we don’t have a timeline yet as the order was just submitted. We ordered China blue with Platinum white/black diamond stitch interior, silver ash wood and 20” black AMG wheels, we also got the night package, 360 camera, G manufaktur interior package, AMG performance wheel. No the long wait!

Can you attach the build sheet as a pdf? Would like to see the option cost breakdown. Thanks.

I'm from Canada so my spec is in Canadian dollars, if you want to build one you can just go to Mercedes website and it shows all the prices!

Thanks - $CDN answers my question. Wasn't able to compute how your option package brought the MSRP up to $178K

wow thats incredibly fast. are you a vip customer of the dealership? as far as i know the wait times for the G550 at Toronto area dealers are still 1-2 years minimum. which dealer did you order through if you dont mind me asking?

I’m not a VIP customer of this dealership, it’s actually the first Mercedes I’m buying from them. I do know the owner of the dealership so I’m sure that would help, the biggest thing is finding a dealership that has an allocation! I don’t want to say which dealership it is yet as my friend might put in an order so I want to make sure if they do have another allocation that it goes to him.

well knowing the owner definitely does help. i got my 2020 and had to wait just over a year for it. i know some people who were recently looking for 1 and it seems like every dealer has told them close to 2 years wait. shortest one said 1.5 years.... so to get one in a few months is definitely not normal.

I think you just need to look at smaller dealerships. I could have had an order in the past from Kelowna Mercedes with no long wait times!

yup thats the problem with living in the toronto area... even the 'smaller' dealerships basically dont have allocations available... i guess you really have to just call around to dealers outside of major cities.

Anybody fit off-road style tires with the snowflake rating on their G? I’m having a hard time finding 275/50/20 tires that have that mean off-road look and snowflake rating!

Not much to choose from in 275/50R20. I went with Yokohama 275/55R20 Geolandar A/Ts with the mountain/snowflake. Falken makes its Wildpeak in the same "55" profile with the mountain/snowflake and it has a more knobby tread (I plan to mount a set of these on my Rubicon at the end of this summer). Not sure about the Nitto Grapplers -- they have an aggressive A/T tread, but maybe not the mountain/snowflake.

From my research the Toyo Open Country AT3 has the snowflake rating and is the most aggressive looking tire. It comes in a 255/55R20 that is 31”x 10.4” and 670 revs per mile, in comparison to the stock 275/50R20 that is 30.8”x 10.8 and 673 revs per mile. That’s very close dimensions to stock!

Goodyear Duratrac also has a snowflake rated tire and comes in a 275/55R20 that is 31.9”x10.8” and is 651 revs per mile

Congrats! Great looking spec.

If it gets built in August and delivered in September, I'm 99.9% sure it will be a 2021.

Looks good.

can anyone explain why Canadians can get the 360 camera on the G550 but us Yankees can’t?

It’s an off-road vehicle. It is actually useful to have a front camera on it. Why did Mercedes and Magna decide to skip this only for USA?

you can only get 360 cam when you dont have the brush guards on the G550... in canada, the G550 does not come with the brush guard by default. in the USA the guards are standard.

Your best option is to call every local dealer in your area and ask... I was able to get MSRP from my dealer, but they will only do it for locals. They add ADM for folks who are not local because well they can...

It also helps if you already have a relationship with a dealer and have purchased a Mercedes in past. Good luck!

Just got an update from my dealer and my G550 is built and sitting at port in Germany. It should arrive to Western Canada end of August to first week of September!

Lucky. My local MB dealer was trying to force me to sell the m5 I had to them at a much lower price than it’s market value just so I can have the opportunity to buy a G wagon. I managed to convinced them I wanted to keep both cars (although I eventually sold my m5 privately).
