Red face How do they fulfil the new model orders ?

Hello, for example the dealer says delivery will be 12 months.
So, if in this 12 months, a new g-class g63 facelift comes in with new MBUX and touchscreen, will mercedes ship the customer new model or same old year old ordered model ?

Asking this, because Im sure, no one would want to have an old model in delivery day!
Anyone with this experience ?

Im about to pull the trigger for this, but I just feel the new model is imminent this 2021 Jan.
So,if mercedes ships the new model to customers, then I will go ahead and place the order now or else will settle for a AMG-A54s+ or Tesla Model 3 performance for the time being.

A gaggle of MB's
Well buddy... the factory/Graz will be building MY21 thru 1st week September this year - then changeover 2nd week Sept to MY22.

If your Dealer says "delivery in 12 months" - that "might" be end-May 2022 - fwhich would mean like a mid-March/end-March build at the Factory - yes. of a MY 2022

I'm still shocked people are paying tens of thousands over MSRP for G Wagons... stretching beyond 200,000 USD.

To solve the problem, Mercedes should raise the MSRP of the G63's. They should know that it's severely underpriced.

Shouldn't be that surprising given the current state of affairs. There are shortages of all kinds of luxury goods. The real estate market in large cities is going nuts. No inventory
There is a class of uber wealthy people for whom time is more valuable than money.
These people want what they want when they want it and they aren't going to miss the extra money.
This isn't everyone, but there are enough of these people to sustain this level of economic activity for the foreseeable future.

But that would destroy the G's mystique -- coughing up 35% over MSRP while others are paying only 30% over is part of the ownership prestige (just like $8K for a brake job).
Regarding the OP, tell the dealer you want a MY2022 and are willing to wait. But this might push you into late 2022 delivery, and then you'd want a MY2023 -- then the wait and delivery cycle will repeat. Take what you can get, and order another on delivery day.

Yeah I'm surprised as well. I paid MSRP for a 2021. Ordered in Jan and took delivery in April. Shop around and find a dealer willing to do MSRP. Only took me a couple days to find one...

I've found the best inventory search is cargurus.com. You can rule out right away the G's that are listed above MSRP, and focus on dealers that show inventory at MSRP (doesn't mean that's the price, but you can argue the point).

Could honestly turn it into a short-term business.. Buy for MSRP & sell for more...

For the price of what G63's a selling for you could buy a new S-class Maybach... You believe it's underpriced? I believe the starting price being vastly higher than the S-Class is already odd on it's own.. Not to mention it comes with analog gauges as standard...

All new G's in dealer inventory will show MSRP because MBUSA puts them there. It doesn't mean those cars are actually available. As soon as the car hits the VPC it is uploaded to the dealer inventory.
I get calls from all over the country every time one of our sold cars gets uploaded.
Best advice, look and see if there is an actual photo of the car taken by the dealer.
If the car is actually in stock and available don't be surprised if the real price is a lot higher.

Used G wagens can be advertised over MSRP.
