Only reason I ask this is because my oil temperature sensor hasn’t been working, so the 550’s oil temp typically reads 32degrees.
I thought launch control was only the the G63, however, when reading the manual it gives instructions for use on the 550.
1). Sport mode on
2). Traction off
3). Vehicle at full operating temps (this may be my issue)
4). Wheels pointed straight ahead
5). Press brake
6). Floor accelerator
7). Within 5secs release the brake
Again, I realize the 550 isn’t a sports car and even if launch control worked, I wouldn’t use it as I would rather be gentler on my vehicles.
Tried today a few times after driving 10 or so miles and I couldn’t get it to work. Just seemed like I was brake boosting it. However, my oil temp was also stuck at 32.
I have a service appointment in August (as I live about 8hrs from dealer).
Just wondering if the 550 has launch control and if others have gotten it to work? The manual says it does, but the manual also talks about “relaxation mode” “scents that are distributed through the car” and many other items that the vehicle doesn’t have but appear to have been copied and pasted from their other models manuals…
I never thought the G550 had launch control - what you described it what we did in high school, which we called brake torquing!
Yes, it definitely didn’t do a “launch,”…. just trying to figure out if it is related to my oil temp readings being bad off or if it is another misprint by Mercedes in the manual. Curious more than anything.
