I am in north California. paid 25K ADM and got the PO number immediately in June. Received the car last week.

AMG E63 S ( sold )
I am told for numerous reliable sources that there will be NO 2022's for the AMG g63 - however, some will be delivered in 2022 as a 2021 model.

I check in with him every other month to see what number I am on the list. When I placed my order and paid my fee I was #11. In July I had moved up to #4. Don't understand how I could move up 7 slots in 5 months and it will take 6 months to move up 4 slots. Go figure.

Go to MBUSA.com website where MB post how many Gs the dealership have in 'available inventory'. I was told by my salesperson that those vehicles represent vehicles that are already purchased. It does give you an idea of what they are receiving. I get the feeling they don't like MB going that but they can't do anything about it. I've called the salesman every time I see they have an inventory on MBUSA. Check it out and see it if they tell you the same thing. Let me know.
Are you sure available inventory shows how many were already purchased?

Mercedes forces inventory to show on the web even if the car was an ordered/presold. When I got screwed over my Union, I tracked their incoming G occasionally. They kept getting Gs yet I was always stuck in spot number 2 or 3.

So if my local dealership shows 4 g63 and 3 g550 that means these have been presold and I have been skipped?

Possibly. I figured tracking two deliveries should give you a pretty good sense if the dealer is playing you or not.

Let's say they last told you were number 2 for the g63. Dealer could say those 4 were the ones that were already built before you actually moved up to spot 2. Now if the next batch of delivery shows up 3 g63 and none is your order....

I am a bit confused as I do not believe that the dealership has delivered any of these cars listed as their "inventory" on the site.

https://www.mbusa.com/en/inventory/

This is the site we are talking about right?

Mercedes confuses the matter by listing a vehicle as inventory at all the dealerships in a region. When I began shopping 2 years ago, the same VIN G was listed at 8 or 9 dealerships in the SW area. Cargurus.com listed its actual physical location in Las Vegas, not Phoenix, Flagstaff, Santa Fe, etc. I think MB does this because for most models other than Gs, dealers frequently exchange cars. Dealer A has a GLB that Dealer B has a customer for and that GLB moves to dealer A to make the sale. This happens with a G only when its seats are green (lol).

The official answer is that the V8's require an inordinate amount of microchips to manage the hybrid system as well as cylinder deactivation on the G Class.
The engines Daimler sells Aston Martin don't have those features, so that is why Aston will continue to produce cars.
