Market analysis 2021 models
Did some search, phone calls to dealers and some friends in used car business. Would appreciate feedback from folks in different regions.
Some dealers who still have allocations are asking between 50 to 125k above sticker to place an order.
Same for new cars available at dealers. California has the highest mark up, a sales person told me that 50k over was the norm before the production cut, now 100k is the norm.
Autotrader, Some sellers of used cars increased their asking price by 20k, others kept the same. There are still used 2021 , below 5k miles, in the low 230k price which is still around 50k over.
The special edition white/ red are in the high 200 and low 300.
One individual seller is asking 329k fir a car that seems in the 180k.
Some friends in the used car business did not feel any higher drmand yet.
Will be interesting to see auction numbers after tge production cut news becomes more prevalent .

Doubt we see true movement until the supply starts drying up. Plus how many $100k adm buyers are out there?
Then as listed prices go higher, more private sellers will put up “make me move” type prices. Like eBay it’s one thing to post a price, it’s another to actually get it.
Right now the best indicators are whatever ADMs dealers are getting and auction results. It will be fun to see how things move around November or so once people know they aren’t getting an allocation before the break.

We've been scrambling to get one for my mother and best thing we found was 30k over on a G550 that's supposed to be coming in (not currently in stock). We put down the deposit, but it isn't even a color I'm thrilled about. Been turned down at 30k over on at least one car already.
I had gotten a quote to order a car at 10k over from one place prior to this frenzy and awful news about the V8s. We just weren't ready and decided at the time. I've been seeing 45-50k markup on G550 at the low end (some 100k) and worse for the G63 like 75k-"300k"

using Autotrader as a source, 2021 models w low miles below 5k, today:
lowest asking price is 229k from a used car dealer, highest is 349.995k from an individual.
many are using a fixed price, regardless of MSRP, such as 259, 279 and some MB dealers are asking 300k for new available ones

just a point of reference.
2021 g63 white on red with $176k msrp 1000 miles
had it listed last month at $225 and had several offers in the $215-220 range. after finding out that they are no longer available raised the price to $235 and sold it in one day for full asking price. probably could have gotten more but who knows.

A brief scan of autotrader.com this evening shows new 2021 G63s averaging ~$300K and used (1K to 5K miles) averaging ~$250K. IMO, prices will continue climbing as inventory shrinks. Will be interesting when and for how much the last dozen sell. Location seems not important - all dealers are monitoring prices and equalizing. MSRP??? What's that?

The white used one for $229k is close to me--I was like 5 minutes away from that dealer today. Interesting Carfax - sold in Washington State to corporate owner then sold at auction under 100 miles and relocated to Florida for second owner and now pops up at this random used NC dealer. Looks like they powder coated the silver 22's.

This place is a joke.
How does the McLaren dealer in Charlotte have at least 7 of these with under 100 miles on the clock? Are they hoarding for G-Wagon doomsday?

Noticed that
many high end car dealers have their own buyers who order cars for them. The cars then will be listed as used but with delivery miles. As a result of this, a secondary " grey market " is created. Same for Rolex watches. You can find the watch that you want, new and unworn but you pay double the price or more.
