Spied - New G Wagon??
A friend, who is also a G63 owner and a fellow member - spotted this in Vegas this morning:
Notice - Manuf. plates single side exhaust dump, small brakes, etc. Looks like the V6/hybrid platform being tested?
Anyone seen this one? The biggest stand out is the single side dump exhaust (only on one side) - which obviously means not a V8.
Weird to see it without camo - but Vegas is the place they test a lot of cars, so maybe not so weird.

Reminds me of a completely unrelated vehicle but yet using an EU vehicle for testing purposes:

You mean the thinner EU plates compared to the taller and wider NA plates? Apologies if I understood your question wrong, please correct me if so.

I wouldn't consider this as a v4/v6

Oh I mean the cut out in the rear bumper is the same for both models I was thinking? In other words it can accommodate both the wider EU plates and the square NA plates--I didn't think the G had two different bumpers.

Actually, I am pretty sure you are right, identical bumper but with different plate holders depending on if it is EU spec or NA spec.

Interesting - are mfr plates issued by states (e.g. Nevada) or by a fed agency?

Each state issues their own. If you ask "the States," they will argue that the Federal government shouldn't even be able to register those G plates for government vehicles outside of Washington DC. (Which I believe is the argument for G plates.).

Here in Colorado, mfr plates do seem to be somewhat vehicle specific. The vehicle to which the plate is to be affixed has to have a Coloado title and registered to a mfr representative within the state, and the title has to be presented to obtain the plate. It's not clear if one plate can be shared among several vehicles. Anyway, my original point was to ask if the DMVs registration in Nevada revealed anything interesting about the vehicle's ownership.

I wish I understood what I was missing with Diesel. People who are for it are obsessed. In a piece of equipment, I do understand the benefits and longevity. For a daily driver I just don't get it. I know in the Jeep community there was a strong voice to bring it to the wrangler. In practice the demand has not shown up and sales have been terrible. But again I am not a diesel guy, maybe it has something more to do with what diesel they chose and the implementation.

I had a 2009 BMW X5 twin turbo diesel and it was a lemon. Check engine light was constantly on, heated fuel filter went out in the worst part of winter Mercedes had trouble with diesels in the ML and GL. Mercedes and BMW quit selling them. Mercedes still has them in the Sprinter vans. I’m still involved in a class action lawsuit against BMW, they were caught cheating the emissions along with VW and others. The diesel was in the dealerships garage more than mine. BMW offered me a trade assist. I should have taken it, but I was so mad, I traded it for a new Lexus GX 460.

I defer to you as I don't have familiarity with Colorado. However, I also don't understand how that could be. The purpose of dealer, in-transit and manufacturer license plates is to put cars on the roadway that can't yet be registered, are in between registrations or are waiting fro documentation to materialize. If they need to dip the title why wouldn't they have regular plates? I don't think manufactures like advertising who they are.
