Although AMG v8s seem to have been cancelled in the US due to political reasons + semiconductor shortage, there seems to be another reason for g-wagons being delayed.
I have heard that the Graz factory was flooded in July/August and Mercedes had to throw away a lot of parts for the G-wagon.

This is the reason why g-wagons are delayed and won't be available not just in the US for a while.
The g-wagons that are currently being shipped were already at the dock.
Semiconductor shortage is expected to be over by 2Q of '22, so we can expect g-wagons to start selling after that as soon as the political issues are fixed.

As for semiconductor shortage, the estimates are all over the place for when it will be over. I've heard some theories that it won't be over until '23

There's a bit of irony that the factory manufacturing an off-road SUV with a spec'd fording depth ov 27.6" (70.1cm) closed due to flooding (lol).

I wonder if the “Fording Not Available” indicator was lit at the factory?Originally Posted by streborx

This is "internet nonsense" - Graz has produced ALL 2021 G-Wagen's on Schedule and finishing this Calendar year with Record G-Wagen Production.
