Now the harshest fine in the country.....wondering how this impacts Fi and Akropovic.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul has just signed a new bill that will bump fines for exhaust noise violation in the state from $150 to $1000. The bill is called SLEEP, and, because all lawmakers inherently love a good acronym, that stands for "Stop Loud and Excessive Exhaust Pollution."

The law is not enforced when it comes to gas leaf blowers. Some cities are more strict than others but not in LA. Pretty much all of them use gas leaf blower!

SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1: Subdivisions 31 and 32 of Vehicle Traffic Law 375 are amended
to replace the criteria of "excessive or unusual" noise with a measur-
able limit of ninety-five decibels for motorcycles and 60 decibels forcars, as it relates to the allowable noise that exhaust and muffler
systems in cars can emit. It increases the fine for violations of this
provision from one hundred and fifty dollars to one thousand dollars.
I believe this is at 50ft from source. Haven't yet found db levels for the Fi or Akropovic but from 50ft I believe they both fall under the threshold

That has been illegal in Alexandria VA for a while - all noise about a certain DB is not allowed, and I am sure there are many other places that have the same restrictions. And I approve of them all, even though my Harley and Porsche are louder than allowed.

I'm pretty sure there are noise limits in a lot of areas as well as race tracks, they just aren't enforced unless the cop is going through caffeine withdrawals and wants to nail you. Or it could be like King County, WA where there are an abundance of stickler cops, no sunshine and they attribute loud exhaust to racing hand you a felony. And BTW, it doesn't matter if you are in the right.
