Has anyone used safelite for their windshield replacement? Wife told me she heard 2 pops while driving and sure enough, I got the Amazon and it’s tributaries on my windshield. My windshield deductible is only 50 bucks through my insurance. Thanks in advance guys

For a 2019+ G-Wagen
1. I am not "up-to-date" to know if there is a Aftermarket/non-MB windshield available for your G
Replacement = Glass + Trim/Gasket + Install + Dealer Re-Calibration
Even if there is aftermarket available - a Mercedes dealer will need to re-calibrate the Sensors up in that cluster
2. MB Dealer front windshield replacement (with MB windshield) can easily be $3500
3. Check with Safelite for their quote - when they quote ask if that is MB logo glass - or aftermarket - and ask if their quote includes the recalibration (done at the dealer)
4. You need to circle back with your Insurance Carrier as to what they specific or allow for your Replacement and what they in fact will reimburse

Make sure they’re able to do accurate calibration of the sensors after the windshield installation. I had 2x windshields replaced but due to calibration, had to take it to MB dealership (which I also preferred)

Is the calibration only for the LKA camera, or is it for other systems (auto-braking, etc.) also?

If Safelite is more convenient for you by Location - or Appt Scheduling - then just reconfirm re-calibration will be done by the Dealer because ONLY a dealer can do that. Some shops have been known to "say" it has been re-calibrated - when it hasn't been - "hoping" for the best as another poster has mentioned.

Just went through this w my 21 63. Safelite reps have no idea what they’re talking about, Liberty Mutual pushed real hard to get me to go through them at replacement as their “preferred partner”. I ended up going through dealership and paying out of pocket, then reimbursed, for a variety of reasons.
1. Safelite will have to buy the OEM glass directly through an MB dealer anyways. They dont have third party glass yet, at least in PNW.
2. It was a 3 day process, and I wanted a loaner vehicle.
3. Related to above, the G requires a decent amount of labor to get old one removed and new one installed. Both A-pillars were removed and a part of the dash when I saw it in the shop. I didnt want a generic Safelite tech taking apart my G, especially if they hadn’t done one before.
With that being said, I’m still waiting on my reimbursement check from Liberty Mutual

Well worth it to get something like EXOSHIELD for your windshield. It’s only a few hundred bucks installed.

And I actually started a thread a while back for long term advice/thoughts on Exoshield and Clearplex - results were relatively favorable, but both tint/PPF dealers in my area stopped installing them. The general consensus was the amount of rain in the PNW (and subsequent wiper use) scratched the surface over time and they were giving a lot of unhappy customers a refund.

EXOSHIELD made improvements to the durability about 2 years ago. I’ve had it on my G for 2 years and about 18,000 miles and 2 winters in Toronto with no visible scratches.
Even if you replace it every few years, it’s definitely worth it.

Oh man I’m getting scared for my appointment on Wednesday with safelite lol. Traveler’s windshield deductible is only 50 bucks so I might just go with the dealer instead.
Will definitely get exoshield or something similar to it. Houston gets rain but I don’t think as much as the PNW so I’m thinking it will lasts a little longer
Also, did not know it was THAT much removal for thr windshield. Do you know if it’s as airtight as before?. Thanks everyone
