I've read your post but I'm not visualizing the hard wiring for the back camera. Can you paint in the route you took to get the wiring in the part you have circled in red in the photo? I'm going to have mine professionally done but I'm going to get them to walk me through how they're going to run the cables. I don't want them messing up my ride!!
Correct me if I'm wrong. Once the back camera wire is run through that section circled in red, is the rest of the wire run to the front passenger footwell? If not please explain.
What is the most important parts of the installation I need to be sure they do correctly? The company has been around for a long time and have good reviews. But this is a 2022 and things change. Thanks in advance.

The area circled in red is just a protective cover that contains the wire harness to the rear defrost and lights. By disconnecting the rubber grommet the wire can be fed up the rear panel to the rear camera with the other side run forward to the front camera.

There is not much too the installation that makes it special. The rear camera just plugs into the front camera and the rubber grommet on the tailgate is a good access point to insert the wire through.

in the passenger footwell I have a backup battery so it can record 24/7 and the power for the cameras in tapped into a power source there. However, if I remember correctly the rear camera just connects to the front camera. Then the cameras receive power from 1 cable that goes from your power source to the front camera.

If they are experienced they will have no issue.

I did have to bring mine back to the shop as it wasn’t running off of the backup battery when the car was off. So they had to add in a resistor or something. It sounded like something they have to do often to various cars.

You will be fine.

Routing the rear camera cable is easy as it tucks into the headliner trim piece using the plastic blade tool provided with the camera. I did not route my cable through the existing cable boot at the rear door, but I would expect an installation shop would do this. Biggest challenge, as noted in my earlier post, is tapping into a switched power source.

Here are some pictures from my install. I installed two DS900X on my G63. The two main cameras were installed in front and in back with the two small rear cameras mounted on the two rear side trunk windows. Finding switched circuits isn't hard. I used 456 which is the fuse for one of the 12V sockets.

trunk door

power switches for Blackvues under footwell

trunk wire harness

wire routed into trunk door

Fuse ID (use 456, 457, or 458 for switched circuit)

fuse locations

tapped switched circuit. I used fuse location 456
